Smile Cupcake!

It's your Birthday!
I saw this sketch at Bombshell Stamps and really liked it.  I'm using design papers (DP) from K & Company so colors coordinated easily.  Two copies of this freebie digi by Tori Beveridge were colored with Copics - then the frosting layer and the ribbon were fancy cut from the 2nd copy.  These were sculpted and elevated with foam tape over the original.  In addition to the aura around the image, I also taped off the edges of the focal image panel and then sponged in Distress Inks to create the faux frame.  Next the "Smile" was stamped & circle punched - edges inked and it was also mounted on foam tape.  Embellishments include the six "Candi" dots and the faux stitching on the strip of green DP.

This card should be eligible for the following

Really like this Saturated Canary image called "Copica" with her little apron holding all her Copics!
With the challenge being "Totally Teal", I chose my Blue-green colors first and then matched up my background papers and card stock.  After coloring the focal image, I did use the lower numbered blue-greens for the shadow around her so that the teal in her clothes would still stand out.  I added dots with my Micron Pen around her "halo" to add some sparkle to the image.
For embellishments, I paper pierced along the bottom intending to hand sew there with teal threads, but this did not look right at all, took that out and used an embossing pen to draw in the stitching and heat embossed.  Still looks wonky - but chose to keep going.  I added three teal buttons with teal waxed linen bows tied thru them and a small tag with "Create" on it.

As I usually do, I carried the left over DP inside for continuity of theme, and more importantly, to use up the scraps!  I LOVE doing that, no matter the amount, size or shape that is left - I like to use it up so it doesn't end up in the pile of scraps on my desk!

This card should be eligible for

Winter cold...

I have had this image for awhile called "Mum's Quilted Coat" - been looking for the time to play with it.  I chose my background papers and CS and then chose Copic colors that would coordinatet.  I printed out two images and after coloring, I cut out the sleeve and head from one set to sculpt and mount 3-D on the base copy.  The edges were inked with three different colors of Tim Holtz' Distress Inks and then stamped very lightly with the swirl inked in the lightest color - "Milled Lavender".  Half pearls were added among the swirls for texture & to mimic snow.

This card should be eligible for the following

Ok - this turned out better than I anticipated when I was trying to come up with a concept.  Doodle Pantry's "Cowbird" can go either feminine, masculine or even "Metro-sexual" - LOL!  This digi set comes with digi designer paper & five word-art extras... the two seen on this card plus "Cowboy", "Much Obliged" & "Have a 2-steppin' day".  The Yee-haw is perfect for a CELEBRATION of a great accomplishment!  It's definitely versatile!  The boot seen inside is from Stampabilities.

I printed out two copies of the bird and added a sculpted 2nd head and hat on a "Wobbles" spring for dimension   As usual, all the coloring was done with my Copics.

I really like the checker border from Stampington & Co. - it seemed to mimic the DP background.and adds some detail  along with the corner punch called "Ticket Stub" by Memory Makers.  Finished with the button in "Howdy".

Phoooey!

Arrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhh!
I wanted a simple concept so I could get Thank yous out in a timely manner - but what a BUST!.  The gold is a glitter gold that is not reflected in this scan, the red is heat embossed and also very shiny - the problem came when I tried to cut out the center hole!  You can see that even though I stamped the wreath image close to the edge, the punch would not reach the center of the wreath - so I pulled out my Martha circle cutter... what a mess! I practiced several times first and then cut the circles... could not get it centered for the life of me, and after 3 or 4 cuts, I guess the blade was no longer sharp and would not give me a clean cut.  On some I kept making the hole larger and larger to try to get a clean, all the way thru cut  Heavy sigh.  I got a few good ones, and then changed my design to a whole new concept.  Not worth the effort!  Kiss that idea goodbye.

I used a tri-fold design with an embossed image on both "doors", distress inked edges, flowers with pearl accents and lace ribbon to hint of vintage for this challenge. There are images here of the front, one door open and a close-up..
The sentiment was handwritten.  For the sweet image of "Mary" I wanted to add some sheep and for the life of me could not find my sheep stamps!   Soooo I ended up using a sticker - for me that is a first - I'm kinda a purist when it comes to stamping.  It was a stretch for me to take up using digis.

This card should be eligible for the following
CHALLENGES:
Divas by Design - Anything Goes
Basic Grey #84 - Anything Goes - "Out of Print" Collection
ABC Challenge - E for Embossing - dry embossing on the side panels and the focal image is "sculpted" or dry embossed from the back.

Love this warm plaid from Basic Grey - perfect for bear colors.  Copics were used on the bear, bottle and band-aid and a 2nd head for Donnie was made so I could use a spring mount called a "Wobble". I should have left the ears on the top head cuz now when I wiggle his head, his ears stand still!  This one is for a good friend who just broke her leg in four places!  Dang!  FOUR places!!

Altered Art...

with a great prize from The Robin's Nest
Creations need to be submitted by Sunday 12/30
You can get other ideas from the fabulous Design Team HERE

This was a fun book to make... I used the sleeves from Starbucks' and other yuppie coffee cups that I had been saving with just this idea in mind for a coffee loving friend.  One end of each sleeve was sliced open so it could open like pages.  Holes were punched in the closed ends and wire binding inserted using a Bind-it-All.   And then began the decoration of the pages - I searched thru my stamps for anything connected to coffee, found phrases and quotes on the internet, used some heat and some pressure embossing, distressed all the edges - in essence whatever amused me!  I finished using twine square knots tied thru each set of punched holes on the front cover and added random tabs with words connected to the love of coffee.
Here are three of the five pages I created.  Each image was colored, fussy cut, sculpted and mounted 3-D on foam tape.

Hope you have a chance to try something creative over the Holidays -
I know, I know!  In all your spare time!
MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

Delicious Doodles

This is "Man Cake" from Delicious Doodles - the candle is from an image called "Dancing Candles" by The Artful Stamper - after coloring the images, I fancy cut the candle, sculpted it from the back and mounted it on foam tape for added dimension.  I then made a slit at the top of the cake and inserted the candle.  I had punched a circle in the image panel and taped DP behind the panel to provide "glow" for my flame.

Nessus... A Sympathy card for a beloved pet...

My best friend's beloved Shi-Tsu , Nessus passed away at the age of 17 recently.
It was expected, and almost welcomed, because her old age had not been kind to her.
Inside the card I included my favorite passage regarding the passing of pets:

We who surround ourselves with life
even more temporary than our own,
live within a fragile circle,
easily and often breached.
Yet we could live no other way -
and cherish memory as the
only certain immortality.

Craft Your Passion has a new challenge calling for "Stitching - Real or Faux" and this is my inspiration card.  The Design Team has created several ideas to inspire you and encourage you to try your hand!  Go HERE to see their samples and join the challenge.

This "Crescent Santa" is one of my favorites from my Santa collection.  I colored it with Copics and added Diamond Glaze to the star and bell to provide dimension & a little bling (that shine does not show up in the photo, unfortunately!)  I added the strip of blue and white gingham and the blue layer with faux stitching.   I used blue embroidery thread to sew the tab and the image layers.  Distress Ink was used to distress the edges of the card.

Let It Snow...

Craft Your Passion is having a challenge with the theme of "Let It Snow".  For my inspiration card I chose to use this digi from Robyn's Fetish called "I'm melting for you".  I printed out two copies, colored the base snowman and on the 2nd copy, I colored the accessories with Copics.  The accessories were cut out, sculpted and then mounted with foam tape for the 3-D affect.
The background consists of three coordinating layers from DCWV's "The Winter Magic" Matstack.  Diamond glaze was added to the coal eyes and the snowflake brad in the corner as further embellishment.
You can find further inspiration for this challenge by the Design Team (Hereat Craft Your Passion.

Elf Sitter...

This one is for you Muggs...
This is the way I feel right now - dressed for the occasion, but so feeling your loss.

Started with a white base card, added a white panel embossed with snowflakes, punched out a scalloped circle, taped snowflake DP behind the punched space, added the ribbon and mounted the panel with foam tape for dimension.
Next was the Sitting Elf colored with Copics, fussy cut, sculpted and mounted with foam tape in the 'window".  Stickles on the collar and hat completed my embellishments.
