Boardwalk Beauty...

'Boardwalk Beauty' was provided for my use by RSD
and can be found here at Zibbet
I'm goin' a tich weird on ya' -  I wanted something DIFFerent for this RSD image.  Went digging thru my papers and found one sheet of the heavy CS with a linear pattern on it - [can't see it here] - looked like sand to me, a very thin sheet of 12 x 12 scrapbook paper with fish swimming endlessly and the hazy-autumn-burnt- orange with suns(?), flowers(?), fireworks(?) on it.  Then I just had to come up with something to tie it all to my 'Beauty'.  Ripping the edges of the 'sand' and the fishy paper made it look like foam on the waves... so done and done.  Wanted the last sheet to be a fantasy sky & sun - envisioned ribbons coming out in rays (see this version I first came up with which is now on the inside ):
Inside of card
But I liked the loose version better with the 'rays' bursting out like solar flairs.  Somehow represents more heat to me and enhances the 3-D aspect of the design.
Added eyes to some of my fish and real shells to the tide line - and of course my beauty, who should not have stepped off the boardwalk in those heels!
This is for 613 Ave C's ATG Challenge starting today.  You can enter up to three projects for a chance for a prize from either Rick St dennis  (I can ALWAYS find something I like from this man's inventory!). His prize is a choice of 2 digis or a 25% discount coupon for Rick's Zibbet shop, or from the 2nd sponsor -Flat Friends Boutique - with a prize of 4 digital images!  As always, the samples by the unique team of paper artists assembled by Chana and Kathi are fabulous... it is well worth your time to check out the creative artistry of the DT at 613 Ave C!

    Shy Heidy...

This little sprite looks really, really shy to me!  And to have to go door to door and talk to strangers??? Down right scary!
But the change of seasons brings the excitement of choosing a new persona & costume for the ultra fun tradition of dressing up and filling our little buckets with candy!

      Bird Crazy...

Couldn't resist - I had to jump on the bandwagon with the Tim Holtz "Bird Crazy" sets!  OMG but they make me laugh out loud!
Aud Sentiments is in the 2nd week of an Anything Goes Challenge and I took advantage of the theme to use these images.
There is a delicious prize this go around from our Sponsor - Great Impressions.  They are offering FIVE stamps of the winners choosing at their store!  Wowza!  Go check out the store via the link with their name - you will be overwhelmed at the choices!  You may have up to five entries in the challenge, just be sure to include a sentiment.  The rules, and more important, the inspiring art of the designers can be found at HERE.

      PROCESS INVENTORY

      IMAGES:
      • All the images are from Tim Holtz -  birds are from the "Bird Crazy"collection, accessories from "Crazy Things" and the 'POOF' sentiment from "Crazy Thoughts".  The 2nd half of the sentiment I hand lettered.
      • The Happy Birthday on the front is from Recollections.
      • For the focal image I used Paper Tole Technique to 3D the birds & accessories. The images were colored them with Copics, fussy cut, 'paper sculpted' and then the layers were both glued & elevated with foam tape to achieve dimension.
      • The inside uses papers left over from the front:
      PAPER:
      • Neenah "Classic Crest Solar White" 80# Cover Wt. used for the image.
      • Die Cut used to shape curved piece of CS.

Mo Manning Card Series #3 - Sept

This is the 3rd card I am highlighting
         from a card set commissioned
         for a charity event.

My concept was to use Paper Tole on each one working
         only with Mo Manning's images.

This is the entire set - to bring some continuity to the "set",
I used 4 basic elements with each card:
        • The base card and envelope are all Kraft CS
        • All the images are Mo's - creating a consistency in style.
        • All six use an identical sized background paper with the bottom one inch hand torn and adhered with a gap.
        • Each will have an elevation to the image by using an average of three sculpted layers for each image.
        PROCESS INVENTORY
        IMAGES:
        • "Dream" by Mo Manning can be found here at Mo's Digital Pencil
        • For the focal image I used Paper Tole Technique to 3D the image. Printed 3 copies, colored them with Copics, fussy cut and 'paper sculpted' the image.  The layers were both glued & elevated with foam tape to achieve dimension.

        • Neenah "Classic Crest Solar White" 80# Cover Wt. used for the image.

          Animal Rescue - Angel Dog!

On September 11, 1962, the Beatles recorded their 1st single "Love Me Do".
          To celebrate the Anniversary,
613 Ave C is challenging you to show us
          your interpretation of
          Love Me Do!
Of course, their challenges are always "Anything Goes with an Optional Twist"... but this is so easy, why not play the twist?
If you are stuck for ideas - check out the delicious inspiration projects from the 613 Ave C DT!

First thought that popped into my mind was this concept of an animal waiting in an Animal Shelter - and I even wrote a little poem (?) for the inside.
Uh, so I'm not a poet, but the thought was there!  LOL!
All my dogs have always been rescues - I have a special place in my heart for all of them - even if they can't quite live up to the promise on the right.
Currently I have a one eyed Chihuahua named Jack (Get it? A one-eyed Jack?)  He still has not mastered not "marking" every new item set on the floor.  (I blame it on his one eye - and we don't set bags of groceries on the floor any more.)  But what a cuddler, and, he asked me to choose him!

            Fairy History...

             "The Enchanted Professor" can be
found here at The Paper Shelter
I have four grandkids who LOve school!!  So this qualifies in my opinion for "Fall Fun" - the latest Aud Sentiments challenge.   The sponsor provides 2 images for the DT to use - or we can use a TPS image from our files if we have any - and that is what I chose to do here.  You have one more week on this challenge to enter up to 5 projects for a chance at the prize.  Take a look at what the other DT have done - it is really interesting to see how an image can be used so many different ways.
            PROCESS INVENTORY
            IMAGES:
            • "The Enchanted Professor" is from The Paper Shelter.
            • For the focal image I used Paper Tole Technique to 3D it.  I printed 3 copies, colored them with Copics, fussy cut and 'paper sculpted' [this is dry embossing the image from the back with a large ball tool].  The layers were both glued & elevated with foam tape to achieve dimension.
            • The quote is actually not by Carl Sagan, but by Sharon Begley  according to The Quote Investigator:  "...based on current evidence Sagan did not create this quotation. Instead, the reporter Sharon Begley constructed the phrase. The quotation has been ascribed to Sagan because the passage at the end of the 1977 Newsweek profile article has been misinterpreted."  Either way, I find the quote quite delicious and sooo appropriate and I hope it inspires the grandkids!

            PAPER:
            • Neenah "Classic Crest Solar White" 80# Cover Wt. used for the image.
            • DP used is from "7 Gypsies" and Tim Holtz'  "Ideology".
            • Inside layered with paper scraps left from the front.  Finished the 'frame' by drawing lines reminiscent of the wide lines used for kids to practice their penmanship - and then wrote the sentiment & reason for the card.
            EMBELLISHMENTS:
            • The square Copper Brads are from stash.
            • The ruler is cut off one of the DP sheets.
            • Diamond Glaze used on his glasses.
            INKS:
            • "Old Paper" Distress Ink used to ink all the edges & the pages of the book.
