Mo Manning Card Series: #1

I was recently commissioned to create a set of cards for a charity event.  My concept was to use Paper Tole or Paper Sculpting on each one working only with Mo Manning's images.  This is the entire set -
My preference is to not ever repeat a design. However, to bring some continuity to the "set", I used 4 basic elements with each card:

  • The base card and envelope are all Kraft CS
  • All the images are Mo's - creating a consistency in style.
  • All six use an identical sized background paper with the bottom one inch hand torn and adhered with a gap.
  • Each will have an elevation to the image by using an average of three sculpted layers for each image.
I will be posting one card a month in order to enter them in Mo's Challenge Blog - so this will be the first in the series.

"Extra"

    Oddball Girl... Lucy

You must know I have a proclivity for choosing oddball images... so what is better than a place called Oddball Art to find an image that calls my name!  This little punkin' seemed to need a place to sit, dangle her legs and miss her friend - so I drew a wooden post off a pier for her to sit on... you will have to take my word that's what it is!  LOL!
Lizzy Love's "Big Eye Girl - Lucy" was provided by Oddball Art

      a Speedy Recovery...

'Get Well Soon Sassy' provided by Sassy Studio Designs
I decided I wanted the colors of the focal image to take center stage on this card - with lots of white space - but still follow the sketch [see below].  Now it looks TOO white to me... but maybe that is what is called for with this sick lady?  Pale, hospital white!
You will have to see the other DT's versions of this sketch - some creative ideas out there!

      Aud Sentiment's
      Thursday Challenge is a Sketch:

You can submit up to 5 versions yourself for a chance at a prize from the sponsor - Sassy Studio Designs.

      IMAGES:
      • I used "Get well soon Sassy" - provided by Sassy Studio Designs.  If you are interested in this image, you can get it at the link above.
      • For the focal image I used Paper Tole Technique to 3D her.  The layers were both glued & elevated with foam tape to achieve dimension.
      • I colored her skin, hair, ice bag and slippers with Copics and paper pieced the chair, blanket and her PJs.
      • The sentiment is a Ginny H. Thursday FREEBIE at Aud Sentiments.
      PAPER:

      • Neenah "Classic Crest Solar White" 80# Cover Wt. used for the image.
      • Base CS and white layers are a new discovery for me - from Michael's I am using "Reflections"  [? I think that is the name - I will check!]  It is very heavy, smooth CS that is wonderful for a base card!  This is going to replace the Georgia Pacific I have been using for years!
      • The red matting layers and the pieces of DP used for paper piecing are all from stash.
      EMBELLISHMENTS:
      • A length of red grosgrain ribbon taped around the length of one layer.
      • Glossy Accents on the ice bag.
