Love is in the AIR!

Pulled this card out of my 'Post' file... so many cards in there ready to go, but other priorities I guess. When I ran across this freebie image by Elizabeth Dulemba, it made me laugh and I just knew I wanted to color it up with Copics for a quickie card. A second print allowed me to fussy cut and layer the pool toy - creating the depth.  Glossy Accents over the spots really enhanced the 'made of plastic' look for the floating toy and die cut clouds on foam tape added to the dimension.   Copic colors I chose were pulled from the background paper - a scrap from the Blue/Green drawer.

Which leads me to this digression:
One of my organization tools that I find really helpful is this small [approx 18" x 7"] plastic set of drawers labeled with five color groups [Metallics, Reds/Purples, Yellows/Browns, Blues/Greens & Whites/Blacks].  It sits on the back of my desk and when I clean my desk off, [which occurs when the available workspace is reduced to a 6"x 6" space], then it is easy to separate all the papers into the five groups and into the corresponding drawers.  When the drawers get full, I go thru and weed out the sizes or colors that I would least likely use.  This builds in an automatic limit on my scraps collection - definitely a welcome plus for an out of control paper hoarder.

When I need an accent color, a colored mat or need to stamp a sentiment, these are at my fingertips.

Gena as Dog sitter...

My 13 y.o. neighbor girl  watched our house and our dogs this last summer... Her first paid job!  She loves our dogs and is wonderful with them!  I am just getting around to posting the thank you card I made for her.  She likes to wear mismatched socks and a grey hoodie which is pretty much her uniform of the day.  My hubby calls her the Princess Sparkly Unicorn - she LOVES glitter.  We paid her - but the best part for her was getting free reign in my RubberRoom!  I thought this Mo Manning image was soooo appropriate!
I colored her with Copics, added 'buttons' to the image panel and mounted it on Desert Storm Neenah CS.  Corners were rounded with a Making Memories "Corner Chomper" - one of the top ten most used tools in my studio.

Something New...

613 Ave C has a new challenge... "ATG/ optional Twist: Something New".  You have the month of January to show your creative talents!  For details of the challenge and for some very creative ideas - check out the DT inspiration concepts HERE!

I enjoy these really unique dies from The Stamp Doctor - this one is "Snowflake Pop-a-Top."  It is placed across the midline of the front of a top fold card and it will cut the snowflake shape out of the card and create a new fold line across to each side.

Below is a pic of the front of the card folded flat with the pop-up snowflake fitting back into the card stock.
You can't even see the cut line in this photo - but as you fold at the crease, the snowflake pops up leaving the negative hole in the front of the card.

This photo on the right actually does show the negative of the die, but without the right contrast my eye only sees the white as a second snowflake on the front of the card... that's weird when you know what it is and your brain still can't see it!
This photo lets you see it is an easel card.
The paper is from Holiday Cheer by Traci Smith.  It is double sided 6 x 6" pack by Photoplay Paper.  I die cut a second copy of the snowflake out of that DP to make the pop-out show up against the dark background of the base card and then Wink of Stella was applied to all of the Pop-up.  The DP was also used for the front and inside panels with a hand doodled border created on both.  A white pen created the lace for her petticoat.
Copics were used on the Mo Manning image to match the DP and Diamond Glaze was applied to her eyes and buttons on her coat.
The sentiment is a 2004 stamp from River City Rubber Works.  And finally, the small white snowflakes were punched with a Martha punch.
