Fitztown Teddy...

Teddy Bear 14 provided by Fitztown
This is my DT card for
613 Ave C 's new challenge:
 Anything Goes / No twist!
They have three sponsors this week [Dr. Digi / Limited Runs & Fitztown] - that means three prizes people!  So go for it - nothing to lose!
You can get all the other details and see some very creative inspiration from the talented ladies here at 613 Ave C

It's kinda fun to sit and color in a whole scene like this - back to my coloring book days!   And of course, I couldn't resist - I also had to do some paper sculpting.
TECHNIQUE
[Note: specific information on supplies and sources will be found below under “Supplies”.]

  • I used a "Paper Sculpting Technique" that consists of:  printing the focal image twice, coloring with Copics, fussy cutting different layers, sculpting the individual pieces [dry embossing each individual piece from the back using a large ball tool] and layering with foam tape to maintain the dimension. The three little bears in front and the mama's left arm and head were all sculpted. You can see some of that better in this photo.
  • I drew in the boards so I could make a wooden floor and added a sentiment.
  • The focal panel and the insides are double matted.

This card should be eligible for the following
CHALLENGES:

Just Because II

'Seahorses' provided by Delicious Doodles
2nd in a 'Just Because' series using a CAS [Clean & Simple] design.  This is going out in the mail today to a very good friend who will appreciate the sentiment!  I really like this image of the Seahorses clasping tails - kind of an "I'm here for you" message I think... and applicable for almost any person or situation.

This will also be my DT entry for the latest Aud Sentiments Challenge - 'A TWO Word Sentiment".  You have up to 5 entries and the due date is Tuesday July 1 - so go for it!  Such an easy challenge for you - why not?  The sponsor for the winning prize is Delicious Doodles this go around.  I've linked them to the Seahorses in case you want that image... but there are plenty of images there to check out.  The Designers at Aud Sentiments have used several others and you can see their creative work HERE.

TECHNIQUE
[Note: specific information on supplies and sources will be found below under “Supplies”.]
  • I started with a base CS 5.5 x 4 5/8" [NOT square so I don't have to pay more postage!]  It has a left hand fold and I used an E-folder to emboss an image with fish and water rings.  If truth be told, it is Koi in a pond... where it is incongruous with Sea Horses - shhhh...
  • The focal image was colored with Copics & matted with a blue and then a black mat.
  • The 'Just Because' sentiment has been punched out and matted on black.
  • The only embellishment is some Stickles in a few of the bubbles rising,  and sand at the base of the coral made with a very granular embossing powder called 'Woven Tapestry'.  It's very gritty to the touch - a sandy quality of that EP.
  • The inside is kept simple for a handwritten note.

Just Because I

'Frida' from Dilly Beans
I have decided to do a series of Clean and Simple [CAS] cards - all with the sentiment of "Just Because".  A lot of white space using only scraps of DP & minimal embellishment.
The only textures I added on this one are the scored lines achieved with a Scor-It & the silver foil added to her earrings. [See below] The sentiment is elevated on a punched shape by SU.

This is card #2 for
National Pink Day.
[Scroll down for Card #1.]

TECHNIQUE
[Note: specific information on supplies and sources will be found below under “Supplies”.]
  • Base card is cut to fit in a business envelope with the front flap cut short to reveal the lace trim on the inside.
  • I used a "Paper Sculpting Technique" on the little girls head & face that consists of:  printing the focal image twice, coloring with Copics, fussy cutting the layer, sculpting the individual piece [dry embossing  from the back using a large ball tool] and layering with foam tape to maintain the dimension.
  • Two scalloped circle punches were used for the image and mat and a tag punch for the sentiment - which was mounted on foam tape.
  • Candi & a scrap ribbon were added to the tag along with Liquid Pink Pearls around the scalloped Circle.
  • Inside is a sentiment I found hysterical...

Which could explain a lot.

  • The base card is a 5x5" gate fold in the Navy Blue CS.  You can see the fold a little better in this 2nd photo.
  • Searched thru stash to find papers that are pink and found these DPs - covered the joint with the lace trim sticker.
  • Colored the image with Copics, matted the panel with the blue CS and inserted the loops of ribbon behind it.
  • Inside the gate fold looks like this:

Deacon's Cake...

Image of "Deacon Cake" provided by Bugaboo
Bugaboo is sponsoring the current challenge at Aud Sentiments with a theme of "Any Sentiment for a Guy".  They have some very funny images and sentiments - check them out at Bugaboo!

And speaking of sentiments, one of the really talented "Aud" designers has created two FREEBIE sentiments to fit the theme.  You are more than welcome to scoot on over and download both of them for your personal use.  While you are at Aud Sentiments, you can check out my team mates take on the theme and get the info on the challenge.  You can enter five times for a chance at the prize!
TECHNIQUE
[Note: specific information on supplies and sources will be found below under “Supplies”.]
  • CS is cut to an A2 size with a left fold.  Top right corner rounded with a Corner Chomper.
  • DP chosen with a "masculine" feel to them from my scrap heap.
  • To create the 3D image of Deacon, I used a "Paper Sculpting Technique" that consists of:  printing the focal image three times, coloring with Copics, fussy cutting different layers, sculpting the individual pieces [dry embossing each individual piece from the back using a large ball tool] and layering with foam tape to maintain the dimension.
  • Keeping the embellishments simple, I went with punched chevron corners and a faux ribbon created with a strip of paper colored with a Copic to match the candle.
  • Inside sentiment added...

Elephant Ballerina...

Saw this image at Dearie Dolls [a Freebie!] and I laughed - it goes perfectly with this sentiment!  I know someone on my card list will like it!  In case it is too hard to read... the sentiment says:
"It's your birthday!  Hope you laugh until cake and ice cream come out of your nose."
The trunk and bow were printed a 2nd time, sculpted and fussy cut so I could pop them up.  I used an SU punch to create the window in the front panel. aligned on the inside is the SU 'happy birthday'.
The inside is completed with leftover DP [that is Studio Calico's Heyday Collection] from the front.
I used Copics to color her, added a ribbon and bow and I painted on her skirt with gold glitter nail polish that I got at the Dollar Store.  You can barely see the glitter even in real life - guess that is what I get at the Dollar Store!

Butterfly Family...

"Postcard" image provided by Vectoria Designs
This is my second DT card for the 613 Ave C Challenge theme 'Best Friends'.  On this design I am using Vectoria Designs postcard collage sheets.  Do check out the sample cards from the talented Designers as well as the challenge details HERE, at the 613 Ave C site!
A special Thank You to Barbara who gave me this cool Butterfly stamp!
TECHNIQUE
[Note: specific information on supplies and sources will be found below under “Supplies”.]
  • Pink Base card is 5 x 5" with a left hand fold - 3/4" from the fold I scored a 2nd fold line. Inside the card this area was adhered together so that the card opens at that new fold line.
  • The front panel is glossy CS which is critical for this technique.  In the past I have used alcohol inks but in this case, I am using Distress Dye Ink Refills in the shades of 'Spun Sugar', 'Worn Lipstick' & 'Milled Lavender'.  A single small drop, starting with the lightest shade, is added near the bottom of the panel.  I use canned air with the straw attached to blow the ink up and across the panel.  When satisfied with that result, I add the middle color and do the same & finally the 3rd color.
  • The red rubber 'Butterfly Family' from Stampendous is stamped using all three colors going up the page and finally, when all the ink is dry, I use Memento black overlaying the lavender stamping.
  • A pink ribbon is adhered around the base and the panel is matted with black.  This is then attached to the front of the card.
  • My sentiment is stamped on the Vectoria Designs 'Postcard' which was the inspiration for the design and the colors.  It is also matted with black and fixed to the front.
  • Large and small black pearls are added as well as the pink bow.

Best Friends Day - June 8

A Random Fan provided "Fintastic Noah"

  • I used a "Paper Sculpting Technique" that consists of: printing the focal image three times, coloring with Copics, fussy cutting different layers, sculpting the individual pieces [dry embossing each individual piece from the back using a large ball tool] and layering with foam tape to maintain the dimension.
  • The heavy weight, very shiny CS  used for the Base card was embossed with 'bubbles' using a Cuttlebug E-folder.
  • Focal panel was matted with black and taped on the front of the base card which is 3.75 x 7.5" wide.  [I'm gonna have fun making an envelope for this one!]
