Happy World Heart Day!!

"Love Bug Lyndsey Buggmee" provided by Lacy Sunshine

This is in celebration of World Heart Day! I chose this image from a Lacy Sunshine series by  Heather Valentin. She has done a series of what she calls "buggmees", and I find them quirky and quite appealing!  This one is "Love Bug Lyndsey Buggmee".  I have also collected "Sue Shu Fly Buggmee" [you can click on the link to see what I did with this one] and "Tussa Milkweed Tussock Caterpillar Buggmee".  They amuse me greatly - what can I say.

613 Ave C is celebrating World Heart Day by challenging you to use a heart in your project.  You can see the very creative examples by the designers here which will give you sooo many ideas!  You may enter up to three projects before the deadline 10/4. - an easy project, let's see what you come up with!
TECHNIQUE
[Note: specific information on supplies and sources will be found below under “Supplies”.]
  • An A2 card with a left fold was prepared with a background of 3 layered DPs.
  • For the main image I used a "Paper Sculpting Technique" that consists of:  printing the focal image three times, coloring with Copics, fussy cutting different layers, sculpting the individual pieces [dry embossing each individual piece from the back using a large ball tool] and layering with foam tape to maintain the dimension.
  • Three hearts were punched from some of the DP used on the front.  They were sculpted and mounted with foam tape.
This card should be eligible for the following

Different from the rest...

"Carousel Seahorse" provided by Doodle Pantry
Aud Sentiments is mid-way on their For The Men In Our Life challenge.  You can submit up to five entries before their deadline of Sept. 23... and it's as good a reason as any to build up your stash of masculine cards!  Next to sympathy cards - my hardest to do!
Doodle Pantry sponsors a prize for the winner this go around, and of course, the images for the Designers.

TECHNIQUE
[Note: specific information on supplies and sources will be found below under “Supplies”.]
  • The Carousel Seahorse was colored with Copics, fussy cut [including cutting off the pole] and then dotted with white Copic paint & purple foil applied to the saddle [shows black in the photo].
  • Background was a multi step process: 1] Distress Inks were applied horizontally across the panel until the color and saturation were what I wanted.  2] When dry, I stamped the plant life and the small seahorses.  3] The panel was embossed with a Cuttlebug E-folder.  4] Distress Inks were sponged vertically down the panel to ink the edges of the "waves".  5] Gold foil was glued at the base of each of the "blooms".  6] Left edge of the panel was cut and then adhered to the purple base card 1/8" from the main panel with tape and brads.
  • The Seahorse was sculpted and then elevated on foam tape to the panel.
  • Sentiment was computer generated, matted and attached.
  • As always, the inside uses leftover papers from the front.

Ribbon Scraps...

Recently I was shown an idea to use up ribbon ends that are too short for a whole project. Unfortunately I have totally spaced and have no memory of the source. If you know whose idea this is, please leave a comment and I will give them the credit they deserve.  This is my version of that concept.

I used a strip of CS covered with a strong double stick tape to lay out my ribbon pieces.  Once adhered to the front, I turned it over, added tape to the back and pulled the ends around firmly to attach them.
Using this as my color palette, I chose to color the calf image from A Day for Daisies with Copics.  I'm not happy with my little Black Angus... I colored her so dark, her head is not well defined against her body.  Next time I will color her with more highlights.

This card should be eligible for the following
CHALLENGES:

MarkerPOP Challenge #51 – ATG

You color my world...

'Raggedy Girl Adorable' provided by Stamp Art Designs by Kathryne
Have always had a thing for Raggedy Ann dolls.  No idea why - I never owned one, they just amuse me!  I have a really bad time passing them up when I see one - so needless to say, I have a collection of them- rubber and digital.
Then I saw Marie-Clare's Freebie sentiment: "You color my world" and I had a spark of an idea...
Aud Sentiments is mid-week in a challenge to use "Any Sentiment except a Birthday".  The designers have prepared some absolutely beautiful ideas to spark your mojo - I highly recommend a look-see!  Stamp Art Designs by Kathryne has provided a really generous prize of FIVE images from her catalog... and you are allowed FIVE entries before Sept. 9!  Worth your time and effort for sure!

TECHNIQUE
[Note: specific information on supplies and sources will be found below under “Supplies”.]
  • Red-Orange CS cut to 5.5 x 6'' size with a left hand fold for base card.
  • Two different DPs were cut 1/4 inch smaller and then torn on the diagonal and adhered to the base.
  • Four copies of the image were printed and using a Paper Sculpting technique, individual sections were fussy cut, colored with Copics, embossed from the back to round the section and pieces were adhered with glue or foam tape for dimension.
  • Faux stitching was hand drawn around the focal and sentiment panels.
  • Focal panel was then taped to a mat that has a border punch with a ribbon threaded thru & a bow added.
  • Mat and sentiment were elevated on foam tape.
