In My Defense...

I loved how this image turned out - with four Paper Toled layers giving great dimension to her body, head, ribbon and bow.   I am tickled with how her hair turned out - even though her hair is essentially a flat sheet of paper - in real life it looks like you can feel the waves of her hair.  My friend Shani says these are called Marcel Waves - made popular in the 1920's.  If you look at the original drawing below you can see it is the outside outline of the shape of her hair only, without any guidelines for the style.
PROCESS INVENTORY
IMAGES:
Sale - Digi Stamp Digital Instant Download Big Eye Girl ~ Patty Cake Image No. 18 & 18B by Lizzy Love
  • This image is "Patty Cake" drawn by Lizzy Love & sold at Oddball Art.  If you like the image - you can find it here and right now I noticed it is on sale for $2.55.
  • For the focal image I used Paper Tole Technique to give her dimension. Printed 4 copies, colored them with Copics, fussy cut and 'paper sculpted' the images.  The layers were both glued in some places & elevated in others with foam tape to achieve the desired dimension. This is what the image looks like before my coloring - the waves were created with Copics.
  • The Sentiment was a freebie from Ginger's House and I think it is perfect for a Belated Birthday!
PAPER:

  • Neenah "Classic Crest Solar White" 80# Cover Wt. used for the image.
  • DP used for the layers are from Basic Grey's 'Indie Bloom' and 'Hello Luscious' collections.

  • Base CS is Recollections - 110 lb, Ivory found at Michaels.
  • Inside uses left over DP fro the front:

    Let's Party...

Used a lot of recycled materials here -
always a plus in my book!

This Monday's  Craft Your Passion Challenge is "Heavy Metal (add metal to your artwork)" and the sponsor is "Kenny K".  They provided images for the Design Team to use and I chose this one called "Let's Party".   You can see all of the CYP Design Team's inspiration for you and the challenge rules HERE.
    TECHNIQUE
From my desktop I rescued a card base left over from assembly of my Niece's graduation announcements.  It already had the lighter blue panel attached that has been embossed with a "Brick" embossing folder.  The next element is using a heavy aluminum foil that had sealed a can of coffee, it was attached to a layer of CS (to add weight and stability), then it was run thru a Cuttlebug using a "Stars" embossing folder.  A blue, gathered and stitched ribbon was wrapped around the bottom of this panel to simulate a stage and the whole thing was layered on a heavy silver CS panel.  The silver stars were then punched out of the leftover silver CS and glued to the background in an arch. The 4-layer metal background was elevated on foam tape over the stars.  The focal image was colored with Copics, fussy cut, sculpted using dry embossing and elevated on foam tape on top.  The final element was the sentiment; stamped, punched out, layered on a blue mat and then again on a silver embossed mat.  Large metal brads secure it to the background.
The inside consists of leftover white and silver CS that was punched with the star in the corner to show the blue of the base card.

This card should be eligible for the following
