Vintage Clown...

I LOVE this image from A Day For Daisies - there is a set of three Vintage Clowns that are referenced below under supplies in case you want to check them out.  Fun to color!  And I used a tag for the sentiment on this one.

This card was created for the fortnight challenge "Any Sentiment You Want" at Aud Sentiments.  A Day For Daisies graciously provided  images for the design team to use.
A Day For Daisies

You can see all of the Design Teams inspiration for you and the challenge rules HERE.

TECHNIQUE
I started with an A2 size base card in a yellow-gold color.  The "Vintage Bell Clown" image was printed out and I colored him with Copics.  This layer was matted with the base card CS.  The next step was to stamp the background with the Print Pattern using "Wild Honey" & "Rusty Hinge" Distress Inks.  Extra stamp-offs of this were used for the tag and for the interior.  To kick up the texture and detail, I added gold foil to the bow tie and to the dingle-bells hanging off his clothing & the bells.  Faux brads were created for the intersection point of the diamonds in the background by using a 1/16th hole punch, gluing the hole centers down and then applying gold foil to them.  The interior has faux stitches around the message panel.
This card should be eligible for the following

CHALLENGES:
Crafty Ribbons #71 – Stitching real or faux [faux stitching was used to tack down the message panel]

Cuppa Cocoa to Celebrate!

This post is dedicated to all the people who helped me through my post-op recovery!  I now have TWO artificial hips and I feel like Wonder Woman when she runs at super speed... LOL!  I am walking with OUT pain and I am ecstatic!  I send out a humongous thank you to those of you who had my back during these last 4 weeks - I am whole again, and grateful for the kindness you all have shown me!

On to my second piece of news... this is my first post for the Design Team at 613 Ave C!  I was slated to start the week before my surgery and I had to go on a leave before I even had submitted a single card.  Kathi and Chana, the owners of 613 Ave C have been unbelievably supportive and patient with me.  I have found an incredible group here - organized, supportive and communicative - I am in good hands now!

Finally, on to business!

Think Pink...

This will be my last post for Craft Your Passion, I am stepping down from the Design Team.   I will be taking a break from my blog as well for about a month and I'll be back to posting around early December with new projects.

But, before I go... this last challenge I will be doing for  Craft Your Passion is "Think Pink", in honor of Breast Cancer awareness month.   The sponsor is Dilly Beans and  she has  provided images for the Design Team to use -  I chose this  "Frida".   You can see what the rest of the team has done with this theme and the challenge rules HERE.

TECHNIQUE
Inside
So easy!  I started with the bright pink CS from my stash, gave it a top fold and shaped the bottom front edge to enhance the idea of a framed picture on a stand.  I wanted all the attention on Frida, so the framing consists of alternate layers of white, two different papers from Basic Grey's "Indie Bloom" and leftover CS from the base card.  The image was printed three times with the base image being colored with Copics.  After cutting out the main panel, I colored the edge with black to intensify the frame.  The other two copies of Frida were used to make 2 additional layers for her hair [bottom right] and the flowers.  These parts were colored, fussy cut, sculpted using dry embossing and popped up on foam tape for added dimension.  Her earrings were coated with silver foil for bling and the sentiment was punched and matted to complete the front.  The inside used scraps from the front and two punched hearts layered for the corner.

This card should be eligible for the following
CHALLENGES:
Paper Shelter #133 – Use 2 colors only [pinks & green]
Quirky Crafts #22 – Favorite Things [Frida!]
OSAAT #186 – A/G
Sentimental Sunday #177 – Happy B'd – shaped or easel card
Fussy & Fancy #100 – Celebration [Breast CA Survivor]

SUPPLIES
IMAGES:  The focal image is by the very talented Megan Suarez from Dilly Beans; the sentiment is from SU.
PAPER:  Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80# Cover Wt. used for the images; DP is from Basic Grey; base CS is stash.
EMBELLISHMENTS: Sentiment tab and mat are both from an SU punch; the silver foil on her earrings was applied using Duo Glu.
INKS:  The image was printed on a Canon PIXMA printer & colored with Copics:

You call me a Witch...

Ok - I have to admit... this made me giggle!  I had to use it for this next challenge at Aud Sentiments - they want a "Funny Halloween" card.

The sponsor is Bugaboo and they provided images and some sentiments for the Design Team to use.  You can see all of the Design Team's inspiration for you and the challenge rules HERE.
We are at the mid-week of this two week challenge - so you have time still to get an entry in the mix for the prizes!

TECHNIQUE
I started with some fabulous striped paper from my stash - the colors are perfect for Halloween.  A black mat helps pop the image panel off the background.  The image was colored with Copics and I tangled the frame around her leaving space for the three Candi dots {also colored with Copics to match my colors}.  The sentiment was punched with an oval punch and slots punched in the ends to allow the ribbon to thread.  The inside mimics the front.

This card should be eligible for the following
CHALLENGES:
Fab and Funky #189 – Spots and Stripes
Divas by Design – Autumn Colors
Totally Papercrafts #188 – 1 image/2 papers (striped and black)/3 embellies (3 Candis)

Let's Party...

Used a lot of recycled materials here -
always a plus in my book!

This Monday's  Craft Your Passion Challenge is "Heavy Metal (add metal to your artwork)" and the sponsor is "Kenny K".  They provided images for the Design Team to use and I chose this one called "Let's Party".   You can see all of the CYP Design Team's inspiration for you and the challenge rules HERE.
TECHNIQUE
From my desktop I rescued a card base left over from assembly of my Niece's graduation announcements.  It already had the lighter blue panel attached that has been embossed with a "Brick" embossing folder.  The next element is using a heavy aluminum foil that had sealed a can of coffee, it was attached to a layer of CS (to add weight and stability), then it was run thru a Cuttlebug using a "Stars" embossing folder.  A blue, gathered and stitched ribbon was wrapped around the bottom of this panel to simulate a stage and the whole thing was layered on a heavy silver CS panel.  The silver stars were then punched out of the leftover silver CS and glued to the background in an arch. The 4-layer metal background was elevated on foam tape over the stars.  The focal image was colored with Copics, fussy cut, sculpted using dry embossing and elevated on foam tape on top.  The final element was the sentiment; stamped, punched out, layered on a blue mat and then again on a silver embossed mat.  Large metal brads secure it to the background.
The inside consists of leftover white and silver CS that was punched with the star in the corner to show the blue of the base card.

This card should be eligible for the following
CHALLENGES:
Papertake Weekly – Anything Goes
Crafty Ribbons #64 – A/G with Ribbon
Paper Crafting Journey – For a Boy
Pile it On #40 – Favorite color as main color (right now my Fave is Blue)
OSAAT #184 – Use a Digi
Robyn's Fetish  #180 – Use a Digi TOP PICK
Fussy & Fancy #99 – One for the Boys -TOP FIVE

SUPPLIES
IMAGES:  The focal image is by Kenny K; the sentiment is from a pre-inked word set.
PAPER:  Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80# Cover Wt. used for the images;  base CS and all the matting are recycled CS from my scrap pile.
EMBELLISHMENTS: Sentiment tab & mat has been made with an SU punch.  The silver mat under that is a recycled label stamp embossed with silver EP; metal brads & ribbon are both stash; silver stars are from a McGill punch.
INKS:  the image was printed on a Canon PIXMA printer & colored with Copics:
May you color with abandon, create wildly and always make what amuses you!

Haunted Birdhouse...

"Boo-Frickity-Hoo!
You'd be haunted too if you had
Raven poop in your shingles!!"

I love this image and I love this
rubber stamp sentiment.
I know my older grandsons
will get a kick out of this one.

This is mid-week inspiration for the Aud Sentiments Challenge - “Any Sentiment for a Child”.  Beccy'sPlace  provided an image for me to use and I chose "Haunted Bird House".   You can see all of the AUD Sentiment Team's inspiration for you and the challenge rules HERE.
TECHNIQUE
There's more going on here than first meets the eye.  The image was printed out and colored with Copics.  For the Raven's beady, evil eye - I heat embossed it black.  Next I punched out 2 circles - the first one in yellow vellum was layered over the other from a scrap of yellow and orange flowered DP.  The two were glued together and then onto the image panel - together I think they look very "moon-like".  The sentiment, black fence and ribbon were attached to this layer.  The matting layer is actually the same yellow vellum used with the moon - it was run thru a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder of a spider web.  Although that design is not apparent, I think it looks a lot like straw scattered about for my background.

This card should be eligible for the following
CHALLENGES:
2 Sisters #163 – Anything Goes
Fussy & Fancy #98 – Punches and Dies
Sweet Stampin' – Things with Wings
613 Ave C #38 – A/G (op Create your own Challenge)

Charming...

Meet "Annabelle" which can be found here at Make it Crafty.  I've always been drawn to Steam Punk, so I had fun coloring her.

This Monday's  Craft Your Passion Challenge is "Add a little Charm" and the sponsor is The Robyn's Nest.     You can see all of the CYP Design Team's inspiration for you and the challenge rules and deadline HERE.
TECHNIQUE
I colored her with Copics and added shiny silver foil to the skirt "cage" and to the two buckles on her hat and collar.  The key charm was initially meant to go on her waist, but it pretty much disappeared against the folds, so I hung it on a waxed linen cord where it could stand out.  The image panel was set at an angle and off the edge.  A ribbon and bow were added to balance out the sentiment element and the inside uses the alternate side of the DP used on the front.
Specifics of the supplies are listed below.

This card should be eligible for the following
CHALLENGES:
Simon Says Wed – Anything Goes
2 Sisters #163 – Anything Goes
Fussy & Fancy #98 – Punches and Dies (sentiment)

Copy Cat...

This card was for the "Copy Cat" challenge at Digi Darla.  They offered a freebie of a ship and everyone had to use that image in their design.  Sounded like fun to see what everyone does with the exact same image!  BUT, I was too late to get it in the challenge - heavy sigh.

TECHNIQUE
I used a Spotlight technique that suggests someone using a scope to see the ship - simply done by printing two copies and punching a circle from one of them to color.  I used Copics to color  it & then edged the circle with a dark grey.  The hard part was trying to get it perfectly lined up with the base image and glued down.  The final touch was using whiteout as foam on the top of the waves.  The inside was decorated with the same matting.

This card should be eligible for the following
CHALLENGES:
Digi Darla #81 - Copy Cats (TOO LATE< sigh.)
LEJ Designs #72 – Lots of Layers (6 layers)
Clear it Out – Let's Hear it for the Boys /stash: punch
