Origami gift...

There is a new 613 Ave C  challenge starting Nov 6th:  "ATG or the optional Twist: "Scrap Your Stash".  You have the month of Nov. to show your creative talents!   For details of the challenge and for some very creative ideas from the DT's inspirational contributions - click HERE!

I like to send money in my cards to the Grandkids... LOL, encourages them to call me!  I've started folding the bills into Origami that is specific to the person.  This one is a guitar because my granddaughter plays lead guitar in a band - I find videos on YouTube with tutorials on how to fold them.  I used an image [sent as a gift by my dear Canadian friend, Corina.  No source info available.] that appears to have her hand extended to hold the instrument.
The A2 Z-fold card base was decorated with scraps of DP from my stash to meet the optional twist of this challenge.

If the Shoe Fits...

Can you imagine having your birthday on Halloween and growing up with your whole world dressing up and celebrating by having home after home give you free candy?  Barb, my friend, you were a lucky little girl - and no wonder you grew up loving witches!

The legs with witches' shoes are from a Stamps Happen rubberstamp.  The sentiment is a freebie from Ginger's House which was die cut with Spellbinder's Celebrations "Tag That".

I colored the image with Copics, fussy cut the legs and mounted them on foam tape to elevate them.  The purple CS on top was cut in two and elevated to give the appearance of a stage and curtain or wall hiding the rest of the witches.

The inside sentiment is by Penny Black.

I hand drew the web and the spider on the envelope.  I will use an address label stuck just below the web's center to mail this.

It's been RUFF!

I recently bought a great collection of 'Get Well' images from AI Clear Stamps - "Doggie Kisses Set" by artist Bonnie Krebs.   Definitely one of my current favorite sets with cute images and wonderful related sentiments.

I colored the image with Copics and drew in the doggy pillow with a neutral grey for him to rest on.  Slippers were dotted with a blending pen to give the impression of fuzzy material.  The three dots are Enamel Dew Drop Stickers from Freckled Fawn.  Add a narrow, white grosgrain ribbon tied in a knot and I have a reasonable "feel better" wish for a man.
The best part was the inside sentiment!

Copics:
Dog E40, 41, 43
Bear E97, 99
Pillow Bed C00, 01, 03
Slippers BG13, 15

Fairy History...

 "The Enchanted Professor" can be
found here at The Paper Shelter
I have four grandkids who LOve school!!  So this qualifies in my opinion for "Fall Fun" - the latest Aud Sentiments challenge.   The sponsor provides 2 images for the DT to use - or we can use a TPS image from our files if we have any - and that is what I chose to do here.  You have one more week on this challenge to enter up to 5 projects for a chance at the prize.  Take a look at what the other DT have done - it is really interesting to see how an image can be used so many different ways.
PROCESS INVENTORY
IMAGES:
  • "The Enchanted Professor" is from The Paper Shelter.
  • For the focal image I used Paper Tole Technique to 3D it.  I printed 3 copies, colored them with Copics, fussy cut and 'paper sculpted' [this is dry embossing the image from the back with a large ball tool].  The layers were both glued & elevated with foam tape to achieve dimension.
  • The quote is actually not by Carl Sagan, but by Sharon Begley  according to The Quote Investigator:  "...based on current evidence Sagan did not create this quotation. Instead, the reporter Sharon Begley constructed the phrase. The quotation has been ascribed to Sagan because the passage at the end of the 1977 Newsweek profile article has been misinterpreted."  Either way, I find the quote quite delicious and sooo appropriate and I hope it inspires the grandkids!

PAPER:
  • Neenah "Classic Crest Solar White" 80# Cover Wt. used for the image.
  • DP used is from "7 Gypsies" and Tim Holtz'  "Ideology".
  • Inside layered with paper scraps left from the front.  Finished the 'frame' by drawing lines reminiscent of the wide lines used for kids to practice their penmanship - and then wrote the sentiment & reason for the card.
EMBELLISHMENTS:
  • The square Copper Brads are from stash.
  • The ruler is cut off one of the DP sheets.
  • Diamond Glaze used on his glasses.
INKS:
  • "Old Paper" Distress Ink used to ink all the edges & the pages of the book.
  • Images were printed on an Epson WF-3520 printer
  • Hand colored with Copics:
This card should be eligible for the following
    CHALLENGES:
Clear It Out – ATG / Stash: ATG

    Nutcracker Tag/Bookmark...

    "Nutcracker Prince"
    from Aurora Wings

613 Ave C's latest is Anything Goes with an optional twist of "Create Your Own Challenge" using this fun little chart by Kathi Silvi:
I chose to use a Tag, Christmas and Gold/Metallic as my three items and then scored this great image from our sponsor - Aurora Wings to showcase.  You have one week till Sat, Sep 5 to put something together (in either category) for the challenge.  If you need some inspiration - you should see the projects of the incredible team that Chana and Kathi have put together!
My intent is to use this as a tag/bookmark for a gift of a book at Christmas.  But a moment of candor... does anybody else think his boots look like they are on backwards?  It's my coloring of the highlights I'm sure.  Back to the drawing board to figure out how to change the light on the toe of the boots - LOL!  Coloring is such a long learning process of trial and error - and I have to figure out how to turn his feet to the front again!  Now I can't look at him with out seeing that.

     PROCESS INVENTORY
    IMAGES:
    • "The Nutcracker Prince" has been graciously provided by Aurora Wings for me to showcase for this challenge.

      Cherry on Top...

Aud Sentiments' Thursday Challenge is everyone's favorite - "ANYTHING GOES + add a sentiment".  I decided to try a Quarter Fold Card - here is a tutorial by Jana O'Brien if you are visual, but I do have a simple explanation below.
You of course can do anything for this challenge - and if you need inspiration, check out Aud's Team's creative projects!  Then get crackin' and submit your artwork by Tues, Apr 7 for a chance at the prize of three images from Lacy Sunshine Designs.  [And don't forget the sentiment!]

      • Double Score at 2 1/8" from each tall end
      • Glue top onto base card making sure it is inside the score lines.
