First Day of Winter...

Happy Birthday Amelia Lee!
Having a birthday on the First Day of Winter is kinda cool!

I made this DT card for the new Sunday challenge at 613 Ave C... in honor of the First Day of Winter, you are asked to use Snowflakes.  Easy enough - a Cuttlebug E-Folder embossed the first snowflake layer, the 2nd layer applied has three McGill punched snowflakes, and then a paper with silver glitter applied attached behind the punched shape. The third panel has four copies of the RSD image used for Paper Sculpting [or Paper Tole].  You can see some of the layers in this close up:
The final addition was the Tim Holtz die cut bow.
Go see the rest of the uber fun creations from our DT at 613 Ave C and enter up to three submissions for a chance at the RSD prize!
I was just notified this card is the Pick of the Week at Rick St. dennis' blog!  How fun is that!  I am now eligible for a Pick of the Month vote!

Christmas Spirit...

This is one of those cards I made using only left overs off my desk.  Sometimes, after a particular frenzy of card making, I have a pile of perfectly good seconds and it always feels good to use them instead of tossing!  Wonder Christmas Pixie from A Day For Daisies was a printout from the last card - I colored her with Copics and I fussy cut it with a 1/16th inch border.  It was then glued on to a scrap of black and fussy cut again to strengthen the fragile parts of the image and to provide some contrast against the background.  The scrap of paper used on the background is the reverse side of a previously used one.  The sentiment was a "practice stamp" to check the inking on a scrap - I just cut it down and matted it with another scrap of black.  The ribbon & bow were made trying to learn how to use a bow maker many weeks ago - this is getting embarrassing for you to know how deep my desk is piled!!  The only thing 'new' are the 3 red gems - they were not on the desk, but properly tucked away where they belong.

This card should be eligible for the following
CHALLENGES:
Pile it On #49 – ATG/Christmas Holiday

Holiday Bingo...

"Wonder Christmas Pixie" provided by A Day For Daisies

Aud Sentiments' Thursday challenge is a "Holiday Bingo" using this Bingo Card:
I used the middle row for my DT contribution - including a Die cut, a Digi & Bling.  My sentiment [a mandatory element for all our challenges!] is front and center on the inside pop-up.  The card base is from an SU die-cut - the rounded corners on the front fit into slits on the back of the fold creating a closure mechanism.  The interior pop-up was also an SU die-cut.  The designer papers I believe are also SU.  Ruby red bling was added to the points of the gold snowflake & the grosgrain ribbon & double bow on the top are all from stash.

The inside sports a MS snowflake border punch and a Sissix Die Cut of the trees.  The trees were distressed just a tich with Distress Ink. Liquid Pearl applied to the corner of the message panel to mimic the berries on the background paper.  Finally a single Ruby bling was added to the sentiment panel.
There are some amazing projects by the DT - I encourage you to check out their samples with the ADFD images!  You have up to five entries for a chance at a prize - you can link up at Aud Sentiments!

I am apologetic to the two challenge sites that clearly say in their rules only 10 or 13 other challenges... I got soooo carried away this time in a Christmas frenzy.  I have marked the ones for which I am not eligible!

Baby Snow's Gift Certificate...

This is a double sided card...
Focal image "Baby Snow" was provided by Digital Delights

This first side opens to the actual card and message.
Flipped over you see the envelope attached...
holding the gift certificate.
This was my DT creation for 613 Ave C's
I used: image, sentiment, embossing, button, ribbon

This Sunday's challenge will be running from Dec 7 thru Dec 13 and there are prizes from two sponsors - DIGITAL DELIGHTS & FITZTOWN.  There are some delightful projects courtesy of the DT and of course more details on the challenge at 613 Ave C

TECHNIQUE
[Note: specific information on supplies and sources will be found below under “Supplies”.]

  • Using an SU Envelope Maker - I made two identical envelopes, one in each of the two plaid papers [one green & one red].  The green one was left open to create the 'card'.  The red was taped closed in the normal envelope configuration.  The two envelopes were adhered back to back to make the one unit.
  • 'Baby Snow' was printed 4 times, colored with Copics, fussy cut and "Paper sculpted". ["Paper Tole" is the other name for this technique].  You can see the dimension here...
  • The trees were created with a Sissix Die with two layers each.  The first layer is from a paper decorated with shaving foam & blue and green ink - on top of that is a green vellum.

  • On the gift side is wooden button tied with waxed linen anchoring the sentiment panel.  Edges are inked with "Forest Moss" Distress Ink.  "WISH" is die cut into what will be the Gift Certificate with a Tim Holtz' die.

This card should be eligible for the following
CHALLENGES:

Aud Sentiments' challenge is to create a project including a sentiment for "Any Dec. Subway Art...

'Rory Chimney Sweep' provided by Lacy Sunshine
I don't have a clue how my mind decided to connect a chimney sweep with Subway art...  heavy sigh.  But I've decided that she is down there trying to clean off the graffiti from the walls - but wait, maybe she was painting it with that big ole funny brush??  It's Christmas, give me a break on this one!
I loved making my own Subway Art on the brick wall... and I have to acknowledge it was in response to the current challenge at 613 Ave C!  I challenge YOU to follow the theme to use "Subway Art" [ you don't have to make it!], and enter up to 3 creations by Sat., 11/29!  There are two sponsors:  Lacy Sunshine Stamps with a #20 gift certificate and Beansie Doodles offering 3 digital stamps to a winner!  The DT has gone to town and created a plethora [oooh, using my big words here!] of inspiration for you - you can see it HERE!

TECHNIQUE
[Note: specific information on supplies and sources will be found below under “Supplies”.]
  • 6 x 5" white base CS used
  • I made my own 'Subway Art' by using multiple Christmas and Holiday sentiments stamped in red and black ink.  After stamping, the paper was then embossed with a brick wall embossing folder.
  • For the focal image I used a "Paper Sculpting Technique" that consisted of:  printing the focal image four times, coloring with Copics, fussy cutting different layers, sculpting the individual pieces [dry embossing each individual piece from the back using a large ball tool] and layering with foam tape and glue to maintain the dimension
  • The image panel and mat were die cut and mounted on foam tape for elevation.
  • The red column, white Candi and green twine were used for interest and balance.
  • Inside was layered with left over papers from the front.

Time for Tea...

"It's Time for Tea" was provided by The Paper Shelter [TPS]
the sentiment is word art by Ginny H from Aud Sentiments
This is my project for the most recent Challenge at Aud Sentiments.  The theme is to Use a TWO or THREE Word Sentiment. Our sponsor is The Paper Shelter and they are offering a $15.00 Gift Certificate for the winner!  This is the last week of the challenge - you can submit up to 5 entries for a chance for the prize!  I encourage you to take a look at my teammates' projects - these women have some absolutely inspired projects to get you motivated!  Check out their artwork and get your project in before Tuesday Nov 4!

I enjoy Steampunk, so there was no doubt this would be the image I chose to use.  I started with a 5.5 x 6" red CS base on which I layered the DP from the Idea-ology Paper Pad.  The image was printed and colored with Copics, the flourish and leaves were fussy cut off the edge of the panel .  Distress Inks were used to sponge color on to the tag and to distress the edges of the DP and sentiment circle.  The sentiment was printed, punched out in a size that would fit the center of a clock & adhered with foam tape to elevate it a bit.  I chose four gears from my stash, colored them with Distress Ink before gluing them down.

This card should be eligible for the following
CHALLENGES:
