Birthday Kisses...

This is one of my favorite Mo Manning images - "Bronte's Kisses".   It is so very versatile, I find myself pulling it out frequently.

TECHNIQUE
I started with some of my favorite Basic Grey 6 x 6 papers - the first two layers starting from the base CS up.  Since this is for a small boy, I wanted to keep the embellishments to a minimum, so I went with the bubbles punch on two layers.  A piece of white paper was taped behind the one layer to let the bubbles stand out.  My husband thinks they look like Bronte may have a digestive issue going on (ewwww)!  Unintended, I promise!  Image was colored with Copics, edges inked for definition with Distress Inks.  The sentiment is computer generated, punched and matted with SU punches.

Girls Back to School...

This is the 2nd Back to School card I made... this one with Office Supplies for the new Craft Your Passion Challenge.

Craft Your Passion's Challenge is "Office Supplies" and will run today thru Sunday 9/1.  The prize sponsors this go around are  from Melonheadz and The Robin's Nest.  Check out the other projects from the Design Team if your mojo needs a boost!

TECHNIQUE

I started with a Melonheadz image and scraps from the Basic Grey "Soleil" collection for the background.  I love that soft lavender and blue - and I used that color scheme for my focal image.  Around the edge of each of the DP panels I hand drew a frame on one and faux stitching on the other with a Micron pen.  I colored her with Copics, fussy cut her and rounded her with a large ball tool from the back.  I added the office supplies of the sticky note, 2 colored staples and two paperclips with a purple "flag" attached and mounted my image with foam tape to maintain the dimension.

Boys Back to School...

I've created two cards for the youngest grandkids starting back to school -
the other will be posted on Monday.  This image is from Melonheadz.

TECHNIQUE
Chipboard Slider
I started by choosing the background papers from my desk scrapes of  "Life of the Party" collection by  Basic Grey. The first yellow layer and the focal image panel's edges are inked with Distress Ink and matted with black.  From the 2nd BG paper I have created two elements as embellishment - one the fishtail banner and the 2nd a paper ribbon running through a chipboard slide.  This last reminds me of a child's backpack strap.  The image was colored with Copics.

Christmas in August...

It's about time I started my Christmas cards and gifts... since I make them all.
Should have started these projects months ago, but I always procrastinate and then panic.  STRESS!
This latest challenge at Aud Sentiments gave me the incentive to get going!

sponsored by  StampArtDesign by Kathryne.  Kathryne has graciously provided each of the Design Team members with an image from her store...
mine is "LITTLE BEAR READY FOR BED".
(That link will take you directly to that image in her catalog.)
I encourage you to see the Design Team members awsome interpretations of this challenge!
Specific info on the challenge rules and the prizes along with the Team's projects can be found at Aud Sentiments HERE.

TECHNIQUE
When I first saw this "Little Bear", I immediately remembered this fabulous Canopy Bed that I have had for YEARS (18 to be exact).  And to tell the shameful truth... I don't remember EVER using it.  But see how my mind works?? (And don't be coy, I bet yours does too!)  I knew it would be perfect for something someday.  I digress - back to technique:

I started with the beautiful Christmas DP and matched it up with Kraft CS for the base.  I decided with the size of the bed I would need a square card to fit so the cut was a little less than 5.5" x 5.5" to fit my envelope. The bed was stamped on scrap CS (all supply details can be found below) and the digi image of the bear was printed out three times and colored with Copics in non-traditional Christmas colors that are found in the background poinsettias.   Starting with the bed, the canopy was stamped on a beige vellum scrap for it's transparency, fussy cut and glued over the bed.  The pillows were stamped twice also, sculpted with a ball tool and mounted elevated on foam tape. I hand drew the floorboards, the corners of the panel were rounded and all the edges were inked with "Antique Linen" Distress Ink.  Next was the bear; fussy cut into layers, sculpted and mounted on foam tape to maintain the dimension. The only embellishment is the shear ribbon.
The sentiment was computer generated, punched with an oval shape, matted with a 2nd Kraft paper oval.

Fairy & Summer Flowers...

The challenge is Summer Flowers at Craft Your Passion this week.
My personal bias is that I want to be able to mail my cards in a regular A2 envelope,
so I tend to make hand made flowers that will flatten and can still be plumped.

TECHNIQUE
I started with a scrap piece of floral DP covering the base card. All my color choices for the image came from that base layer.  Layer two was the darker pink - I used a lace punch along one edge.  Layer three is white that is punched to look like a trellis - and finally, the focal image panel.
Flowers with pearls

Flowers were punched from scrap pieces of the first two layers and the green vine is punched from scrap vellum.  Pearls were added to the center of the flowers and a shear ribbon added on the left. The image is Lillyskite Fairy #4 from Digital Paper Crafts which can be found on Etsy.  As our prize sponsor, Digital Paper Crafts is providing ___  and has generously provided this fairy image for me to use as a sample card.

Three dimensional image
I printed out three copies of the fairy and colored her with Copics.  She was then cut into layers. sculpted and mounted on foam tape for elevation.
You can see that in the photo on the left.

On the move...

My Grandsons are moving to another state - I decided to send this card to them with the sentiment of "No matter where you go"  and inside: "Our mail will always find you two!"

I am using this occurrence as an excuse to create some inspiration for the new Monday Craft Your Passion Challenge - "Don't Get Your Twine in a Tangle!"  The sponsor of the prize for this week's challenge is Sweet Stamps where I have already found a dye I can't live without!

TECHNIQUE
I started with an old map of the United States - you can see the name in the lower left corner:

I wrapped matching twine around the top of this map and taped it to my base card.  (Details of supplies and sources are below.)
Next are the matting elements of the striped DP, one cut with fish tales and the other having rounded corners on one end and the twine element design repeated at the other end.  That panel is elevated with foam tape to accommodate the bulk of twine.  The computer generated sentiment is layered just under the corner and a Phillip's head screw brad is used as an attachment.  I like how that relates so nicely to the skateboard:

Finally, I fussy cut the skateboard free from the image panel, rounded the corners and inked the edges of the top three panels.  The image was colored with Copics.

Your turn!  If you need some ideas - the CYP Design Team has some uber interpretations of the theme!  All you have to do is get your card into the mix by Sunday, August 18.

Princess Leia & Mae West...

At least three generations apart - Mae West and Princess Leia, but this image made me think of my favorite quote from Mae West: "Say Big Boy, is that a pistol in your pocket?  Or are you just glad to see me?"  Talk about FLIRTY!

This card was created for the Aud Sentiments Challenge, "Let's Get Flirty - a sentiment for your significant other".  This image from Sassy Studio Designs seemed to fit the bill.  You gotta go check out the other flirtatious cards from the design team HERE.  It is now half way thru the fortnight challenge - so you have one week to get your mojo on and submit your entry!

TECHNIQUE
The image was colored with Copics, glittery foil was applied on the gun, her belt and in the corners as stitches on the panel.  The sentiment was computer generated.  All three panels were matted on black and layered onto the base card.

This card should be eligible for the following
CHALLENGES:
ABC - S is for Stitching (embossed stitching on two corners of the focal image panel)

All at Sea...

DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!
Oh man!  Deciding you have to burn the edges of your "old" map isn't the worst decision... but doing it on your stove burner AFTER you have already embossed an image on the paper... questionable indeed.  See the copper smudges along the left border?  The rest is on my burner.  DH came downstairs wondering what I had burned - uh, nothing you have to eat dear! Shhh!

Delicious Doodles provided this great image called "Pirate Polly" for the new Craft Your Passion challenge - All at Sea.  That means something nautical, the sea, the beach, etc.  Here is a link to see how the other Design Team members interpreted the theme!

TECHNIQUE
I started with a beautiful, ultra shiny, copper cardstock for the base, added the infamous map, colored the pirate and fussy cut her and the pennants, sculpted them and mounted them on foam tape for dimension.
