All at Sea...

DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!
Oh man!  Deciding you have to burn the edges of your "old" map isn't the worst decision... but doing it on your stove burner AFTER you have already embossed an image on the paper... questionable indeed.  See the copper smudges along the left border?  The rest is on my burner.  DH came downstairs wondering what I had burned - uh, nothing you have to eat dear! Shhh!

Delicious Doodles provided this great image called "Pirate Polly" for the new Craft Your Passion challenge - All at Sea.  That means something nautical, the sea, the beach, etc.  Here is a link to see how the other Design Team members interpreted the theme!

TECHNIQUE
I started with a beautiful, ultra shiny, copper cardstock for the base, added the infamous map, colored the pirate and fussy cut her and the pennants, sculpted them and mounted them on foam tape for dimension.

  10. Hahaha, love how crafters make use of everything around the home for their creativity. Pretty much the only time I use my iron is to re-melt embossing powder. :D

  15. `ginny, it might not be good for your stove but it sure worked for your card. The burnt edges on the map make it look so old and well travelled. Love the copper embossing of that ship. Your pirate is lovely and the sentiment presentation looks fabulous. Very creative!
