Time for Tea...

"It's Time for Tea" was provided by The Paper Shelter [TPS]
the sentiment is word art by Ginny H from Aud Sentiments
This is my project for the most recent Challenge at Aud Sentiments.  The theme is to Use a TWO or THREE Word Sentiment. Our sponsor is The Paper Shelter and they are offering a $15.00 Gift Certificate for the winner!  This is the last week of the challenge - you can submit up to 5 entries for a chance for the prize!  I encourage you to take a look at my teammates' projects - these women have some absolutely inspired projects to get you motivated!  Check out their artwork and get your project in before Tuesday Nov 4!

I enjoy Steampunk, so there was no doubt this would be the image I chose to use.  I started with a 5.5 x 6" red CS base on which I layered the DP from the Idea-ology Paper Pad.  The image was printed and colored with Copics, the flourish and leaves were fussy cut off the edge of the panel .  Distress Inks were used to sponge color on to the tag and to distress the edges of the DP and sentiment circle.  The sentiment was printed, punched out in a size that would fit the center of a clock & adhered with foam tape to elevate it a bit.  I chose four gears from my stash, colored them with Distress Ink before gluing them down.

This card should be eligible for the following

Dancing Pumpkin Head...

This is my last Halloween card this year...
When A Day For Daisies  came up with her in the latest release, I loved the possibilities.  I printed 3 copies so that I could 'paper sculpt' the image.  Layers were colored with Copics.  The pinafore was paper pieced but also elevated on foam tape.  The 'brambles' are from a Tim Holtz die cut. Three Candi's were colored with Copics and added to the corners.  Final step was the bow on the front.

A Tag, a card & a gift - all in one!!

Candycane Christmas Cupcake provided by Bugaboo

Had an idea for a card, gift and tag all in one... I cut the shape and covered in a designer paper with red glitter on the checkerboard. I colored two of the Bugaboo cupcake digis with Copics, added the horizontal panel to provide support for their width, and layered them on the front.  "Ho, Ho, Ho!" was stamped on the top and a heart shaped button was sewn on to provide closure for the card portion of the tag.  A double bow and a triple bow were added as a tag hanger & an embellishment.
A pocket was created on the inside to hold a gift card or money - which completes my triple threat!

My project was designed for the latest challenge - "Bags, Tags, Boxes & More", at 613 Ave C.  You can click on the link to view what the other DT are doing for this challenge - OMGosh!  These ladies give me a run for my money with their creativity!  Accept the challenge and get your project(s) in by Saturday, Nov 1!  The prize sponsor is Bugaboo - and you could pick up these fun Christmas cupcakes!

Twinkles Boo...

'Twinkles Boo' was provided by Lacey Sunshine Stamps

I love this sweet image... reminds me of Christmases past.  I was one who could not sleep on Christmas eve.  Mom would give me books to read - but about 3am I would start going into their bedroom... "Is it time yet?"  "Can we get up yet?"  I knew better than to go out to the tree and spoil everything.  My parents would give up around 6am and I would finally get to go wake my brothers.  The tradition holds - to this day I call {time has slipped a bit to 7am} and wake my brothers long distance - "It's time!!!!!"  They hate that!  But they do laugh... a little.
This is my DT card for Aud Sentiments' current challenge... I would love for you to see some of the incredible art work my teamies have created with Heather Valentin's drawings.  She is one of my favorite digital artists and I tell you, this team showcased them so beautifully and creatively!  While you are there - you can enter up to three projects in the Anything Goes Challenge!

This is my first attempt at shading a nose... have been watching some of the great videos out there right now!  Hmmmm.  Need more practice.
So here is the simple recipe:

Halloween Series: #1 Voo Doo Doll

I love to make Halloween cards - the darker the better usually.  This one started out in an SU class my friend Nancy was teaching. LOVED the die-cut window she was using but I messed up the scene she was having us use for inside... so I took it home and put this image from Dilly Beans in instead.  It's kinda like he is looking in the window and I have alllll the lights out so he won't see me!

Inside with the sentiment.
The image was printed on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80# Cover Wt. and colored with Copics.  I drew in blood vessels with a red fine liner, added Glossy accents to the eyeball and used Platinum EP powder on the heads of the pins.  The edges have been torn around the frame and it was matted on orange from stash.

Here is a close-up to show the details of the Glossy Accents and EP on the pins:

Headline news: Witch Framed!

The five background elements all provided by
DÉCOSSE'S DYNAMITE DOODLES
I have to admit that even though I use digital images frequently, I have never played with layering images [I am a Rubba-girl at heart!] - so this turned out to truly be a challenge for me!  Learning how to manipulate layering of digi elements and png files was new to me and there was a learning curve with my very elementary tools... [I use Libre Office - it is free and I am cheap!  However it is not the friendliest graphics tool in the shed I'm afraid!]  The long and short of it is - I like how this turned out!  [And dang, I learned a lot!]
613 Ave C's challenge this week is an Anything Goes - and the sponsor I am working with is a new one - DÉCOSSE'S DYNAMITE DOODLES.  Lisa's images are pre-colored digital sentiments, papers and other embellishments.  I chose to use five elements from her brand new bundle of Halloween images and papers: the frame, "washi tape" [at the bottom inside of the frame], the word art, lantern and raven.  There are a huge number of choices in this set and if you are looking for elements for your digital projects, either as a focal image or background... check Lisa out!!

I then used a Sassy Cheryl image [a gift from a sweet friend!] called "Sassy Witch" as my focal image.  For Sassy, the Raven & the Lantern, I used a "Paper Sculpting Technique" that consists of: printing the image(s) multiple times, coloring with Copics, fussy cutting different layers, sculpting the individual pieces [dry embossing each individual piece from the back using a large ball tool] and layering with foam tape to maintain the dimension.  The frame is just printed on the base layer by the way - look at the visual dimension you get!

This card should be eligible for the following
CHALLENGES:
Pile it On #40 – Autumn [yellow-gold-beige-green & purples]
Sisterhood of Crafters – Lots of Layers [Sassy Witch - 4 layers]

Go ahead - Scare Me!

"Skelekidz Girl" was provided by Bugaboo Stamps
I love Halloween - and I usually go much darker with my cards for adults.  But for the grandkids? - you gotta lighten it up a bit.  They are old enough now that I can venture a little past the "smiling ghosts" images with out scaring the bajeebies out of them - or even worse yet having their Mom claim I am going to give them nightmares!  All said and done... this one will end up for one of my siblings - the sentiment on the inside has thrown it just over the edge I'm afraid! Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha as a friend of mine would day.

Aud Sentiments is challenging everyone to create a project with a Halloween Sentiment. You have up to FIVE entries until Oct. 7 and the prize this week is from Bugaboo Stamps.  The DT made some great projects for this challenge - if you need some inspiration, there is a boat load of ideas from tags to cards to coffins here!

TECHNIQUE
[Note: specific information on supplies and sources will be found below under “Supplies”.]

  • Base card is an A2 with a left fold
  • Front and inside covered with old Halloween 12x12 papers as is the mat for the focal image.  Die cut was used for the panel and the mat and when the panel was complete it was mounted slightly off the edge of the card.
  • Printed 3 copies so that I could 'paper sculpt' the image.  Layers were colored with Copics.
  • Used rubber stamps for the web and the candle & skull - fussy cut and sculpted the skull - mounted on foam tape.
  • Inside has a rubber stamped crow and the 2nd sentiment - also mounted off the edge.
