Barbara's Card...

This is my friend Barbara's card... I think it is just beautiful - so I asked Barbara to let me post it here.  She has asked me to be sure to credit her inspiration - Penny Ward from Scrapbookpal.com
As a surprise for her I am entering it in several challenges.  Well done Barb!!!

Chloe...

It is a new Challenge Day at CRAFT YOUR PASSION...
Challenge #125 is "Embossing (Wet or Dry)"

I chose this image - "Chloe" from the Card Mad Fairy - coloring the ruffles seemed like it would be fun!  I chose the Copic colors to match the colors on the DP, added Distress Ink to the edge of the panel, attached with brads to a blue panel.

Next I used two scalloped punches on colored Vellum to layer and mimic the ruffles. My dry embossing was achieved by running the DP, Vellum and the front of the base card thru a Cuttlebug with an Embossing Folder.
You can see the embossing better in this photo to the right:

A gift...

A friend rescued a whole bag of rubber stamps from a local second hand store for me... how cool is that?!  This one was among them so I had to make a card for her!  Thank you Ann!
The camera does odd things with color - the DP is actually the same yellow green color as the roof on the bird house.  Isn't that weird?  You also can't see that it is dry embossed on the Cuttlebug with a swirl design.  The ribbon is purple and my favorite embellishment is the tall "Plant" at the base of the pole.  It was made with two very thin strips trimmed off the edge of the background paper.  The two strips were tied in a knot, the ends tapered and all four ends are glued down.

This card should be eligible for the following
CHALLENGES:
Paper Play Challenge 34 - Sentiment as the main focus

The Power of Three...

Time for a new challenge at
CRAFT YOUR PASSION
- this one called
"The Power of Three"
(must use three of something)
I chose to use this fun image from Milk Coffee called "Madeline with a Retro Outfit"  It screamed 70's to me - pink and lime green!  This DP was definitely fitting my brain's concept and I chose my Copics to match.  Two images were printed - colored with Copics, fancy cut the parts I needed and sculpted them from the back.  The dimension is supported with foam tape and layered - you can see the layers below

Now, starting with the pink base card, I punched three holes down the right side and then layered the darker pink panel to the inside of the front of the card so it would show thru the holes.  I added three Candi that had been colored with matching Copics to the center of each circle.  The tag was inserted under the top Candi.  The Design Paper was cut to fit the front on either side for the punched circles.  These panels were sponged with Distress Inks and faux stitching was stamped down the left edge.      Final embellishment was added using Duo Glue in a "Fine Liner Calligraphy Pen" - and then once dry and tacky, I applied the foil to the jewelry and glasses.
I used the left over DP and scraps to decorate the inside - see right photo below.

You can see the inspiration the Craft Your Passion DT's have to offer (HERE) and hopefully you will join in the challenge for a chance at a great prize!

Victorian Ornament...

The Victorian ornament from the Prickly Pear clear set of stamps calls for a formal and classic layout.  If you look closely at the shadows to the right of the ornament and the panel - you can get a sense of the construction.  The white glossy CS used as base is layered alternately with Basic Grey DP and then a white panel - elevated on foam tape above that are two more panels of DP and white. The ornament is fancy cut, sculpted from the back and mounted on top with foam tape to maintain its' dimension.

The inside can be seen here...

By the way, I found some really nice Blog Candy - check out Pinkpuds - she has a "Tilda with her kookaburra" to win!

Gone Buggy...

Craft Your Passion is having a fun challenge - "Gone Buggy" starting today.  I've chosen this Ladybug in a Jar image from Bugaboo as my DT submission this week.  I printed it out twice and colored with Copics. The lid and ribbon were cut out from the 2nd image and sculpted from the back.  That portion was layered with foam tape to provide the dimension in paper tole (or sculpting) fashion.  Three layers of DP were layered on the yellow base CS,.ribbon threaded thru the punched slots in the oval sentiment tag and three simple circle punches from one of the DPs were used as faux brads.  White Copic paint was used as high lights on the focal image and the Ladybug's spots were colored with an embossing pen and then embossed with clear EP to provide the shine.
You can see the inspiration of the entire Design Team HERE.

Study Buddies...

I was playing with texture coloring using Copics on this Sassy Cheryl image... smooth ribbon, well worn soft shirt, heavy textured (not shiny smooth) red hair, well loved bear.
Decided to fussy cut and sculpt this image - then make it into a pocket.  Two panels and a tag were stuffed into the curved pocket.  I added details to the one panel with faux stitching, a punch to one corner and a metal flower brad to the other.  Finished with Basic Grey DP and a scalloped ribbon element from Your Minds Eye.
This angle photo shows the curved pocket a bit better.  The DP is carried inside with a message panel.

Sweet Little Stinker...

The Craft Your Passion first challenge in August is Challenge #122 - Anything Goes!

There are three different sponsors for this challenge: Doodle Pantry, Sassy Studio and Whoopsie Daisy,   although you don't have to use one of their images on your project. That will mean three prizes and what could be easier than "Anything Goes"??  I hope you come over (click HERE), see what the other DTs are creating for inspiration ...and consider joining the challenge!

I chose this digital image, "Quirky Skunk", from Doodle Pantry.  It comes in a set of six images that includes the main image , three sentiments and two digi papers.  I colored the image, edged the panel with Distress Inks, mounted it 3-D with foam tape on DP and finished with Copic colored Candi and a button with the sentiment.

I actually created two versions of this image - this one I used paper piecing for the first time.  But my chief bottle washer, car mechanic and art critic, (and oh, by the way, my husband) did not like a PINK skunk.  Whimsy is not in his vocabulary.  So the black skunk was the one submitted!  He was right (I hate when he is right!), it badly needed contrast.

This card should be eligible for the following
CHALLENGES:
2 Sisters #103 - Anything Goes
Paper Play '12 Week 31- Layer It Up
Catch The Bug - Anything Goes
Challenge Up Your Life - Anything Goes
Divas by Design #46 - Flowers

Crafting Ribbons #25 - Spots and Dots

PAPER:  Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80# Cover Wt. used for the images; DP is from Ooh La La - "Summer Days" by My Minds Eye; base CS is from  my stash.
EMBELLISHMENTS: Candi is colored with the same Copics used in the Skunk so they will match; button is from my stash.
INKS: "Weathered Wood", "Tea Dye" and "Worn Lipstick" Distress Inks were used to edge the frames of the panels; the image is printed on a Canon PIXMA printer & colored with Copics:

I have news!!

Just a quick post... I am sooo excited to share my news with you - I have been chosen as one of six new members of the Design Team for CRAFT YOUR PASSION.  I will be creating cards and projects to hopefully inspire and encourage paper artists (like you!).  I so very much want to see you challenge yourself and share your art with us and I am hoping you will bookmark and follow the site.  Click HERE to see the new additions to the international Design Team and a short bio from each.  My "term" starts August 1 thru January of next year and I will be creating and posting projects weekly.

A short side note here... I made Scott take my picture over and over
till we finally had one that was mildly decent... yahoo!  At least I look happy instead of
drunk with eyes half shut - and you can't see the ink stain on the front of my blouse!

I'm off to my RubberRoom to celebrate wildly!
