Summer garden...

Monday morning and time for a challenge from Craft Your Passion.  This challenge is "In the Garden" & requires you build a garden scene or use garden themed images. The image I am using (Pure Innocence 012) is by Heather Ellis & is currently on sale at the artist's site HERE.

Having  a black thumb when it comes to plants of ANY kind... I made a rose bush with buttons - LOL!

TECHNIQUE
I started with 3 coordinating papers from Basic Grey - the top one is covered with flowers.  Each was matted with a bright pink CS that matches the buttons and areas of the DP.  The flowered panel has notches cut in the edge to accommodate the embroidery thread & hold it in place.  I made the tassel that gathers the three threads and then tied a pink ribbon around it.
Next I printed two images, colored them and then cut the top image in thirds (legs & shoes, dress & one arm and finally her head).  The bird in the rose bush is also two layers.  These were sculpted from the back with a ball tool and then attached with new glue system I recently purchased to achieve dimension.  (See the Supplies list for details).  The edges of the image panel are inked with Distress Inks and the three button were glued down.  Finally the sentiment was added... celebrate summer, the garden, whatever!
The CYP Design Team has a lot of ideas to stimulate your creative mojo... and once you create your version, submit your entry before 6/30!

SUPPLIES
IMAGES:  The image is (Pure Innocence 012) by Heather Ellis
PAPER:  Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80# Cover Wt. used for the images; DP is from Basic Grey's "Sweet Threads" collection; base CS & pink mat CS is from stash.
EMBELLISHMENTS:  The sentiment "Celebrate" is a self inking "Mini Word" on a SU punched tab and mat; buttons, ribbon & embroidery thread from stash; embroidery thread tassel with ribbon bow is handmade.
GLUE: Olba's LijmKit Universal Glue used with syringes (sold seperately) is a new purchase from  Whimsy Stamps.  It works really well for my style of card making technique with sculpted images.  The syringe allows me to deliver a  pinpoint of glue, as in under the bird, or to elevate the rounded/sculpted dress, legs and head.  I am able to make as large and high support as I want - then carefully lay the piece on top of the glue.  It dries fairly quickly, but cure is a 24 hour wait for best results.  I was able to clean up the syringe and my fingers with warm soapy water right after using.  This is a Universal acid free glue good for glass, metal, paper, most plastics - I really like it so far!!  The only concern I have is that it might go pretty fast for me - I need to do a cost analysis with the double sided foam tape I have used historically.
INKS: "Peacock" Distress Ink was used to distress the edges; the image was printed on a Canon PIXMA printer & colored with Copics:

May you color with abandon, create wildly and always make what amuses you!

Play Dress-up...

Cute little image - had a devil of a time figuring out why he had a mask on with it not being Halloween and all.  Got him all colored and then found others of my DT Sisterhood had not colored a mask, but instead colored the little skull cap on top of his head (the one that has the antenna attached to it!) black like the head of a lady bug... duh!  Oh well, in the eyes of this artist... she sees things differently.
Stamp Fairy provided "Lenny Lady Bug" for Craft Your Passion's latest Monday Challenge #167 - "Let's Play Dress-up".  I printed him out 3 times, colored with Copics, fussy cut, sculpted and mounted his different body parts with foam tape.  Half his background was cut away to allow him to step out of his surroundings into a field of Basic Grey flowers.  I punched four holes for the twine, attached the sentiment tag, tied a bow and finished with the "Candi" top right, colored with the same Copic colors used in my image.
Below is a peek at the inside and a close-up of the bear fur:

Trailing Balloons...

A masculine CAS card that is, if truth be told, walking the fine line of femininity with those "Daisy Balloons".  But DANG, I love the balloons that Eureka Stamps makes - all kinds of unexpected shapes - (like a moose, raccoon, dragon, etc.)  I think this will pass for Father's Day, Male appreciation, birthday... I need more of these balloons!!!!
This card was designed for the latest Craft Your Passion Monday Challenge: "Father's Day".   I used an image from the prize sponsor - Eureka Stamps, but you may use any image you like as long as it fits the theme.   If your mojo needs a kickstart for a masculine card, do check out the Design Teams inspiration pieces!  Deadline is Sunday June 16.

TECHNIQUE: The car and sentiment were stamped directly on the image panel in black and the corners were punched with a "ticket stub" punch.  The balloons are digis and were printed out 5 times so that I could color, sculpt and layer them for dimension.  They were "attached" to the back of the car with heavy, black embroidery thread to provide some weight to the image.  I punched a hole behind the car's seat and using a needle threader (dental threader used for flossing), I threaded all three strands to the back of the panel and taped the ends down to secure them.  The panel is then taped down flat to the base card.  Using double sticky foam tape I then fastened down the balloons with two of them double layered.  Supplies are detailed below.

The inside has ticket stub punches on the corners to mimic the front, otherwise is CAS like the front of the card.

Celebrating Summer!
Love this Sassy Cheryl image - really versatile, from Love you , Happy Birthday, Celebrate, to "That fish was THIS big!", etc.    I used my favorite technique of sculpting layers, in this case two layers of the focal image... the head, shirt and shorts are the 2nd layer.  Image is colored with Copics.  The DP panels are from Basic Grey and the checkered border and the metal bee charm were added for embellishment.  Details of the products used are below.

Summer Breeze...

It is Monday and time for the weekly challenge at Craft Your Passion.  This one is called "Haberdashery Items" and requires stitches, buttons, ribbons - things from your sewing box.  This is my take on the theme.  Rules for the challenge and more inspiration from the Design Team can be found (HERE)!

Tim Holtz happens to have some papers in his "Ideology" stack that has wonderful images perfect for this theme... button cards, needle books, safety pin and eye and hook cards - of course all in vintage colors.  From those papers I chose the colors I would use on my - less than vintage - focal image -  I wanted her to really pop off the darker, vintage colors on the page.  She is called "Summer Breeze" from Crafty Sentiments  and my mental image of the tie in was that she has just finished making her new Summer dress (hey, works for me!)

The image was printed out twice, colored with Copics, fussy cut, sculpted from the back and then reconstructed using foam tape for dimension.  I used the Holtz papers for the background and then cut our the specific images from the rest of the DP, layered them at angles.  Buttons were sewn on the button card, a small safety pin added to that card and like wise a small hook added.  a small tag was created for the sentiment - "Sew Sweet".

Left over papers were re-cycled on the inside.
