Bring in the Clowns... WINNER

This wonderful vintage clown image is one of a set of three from A Day for Daisies.  OMG!  I am in love with them and I will be doing the other two soon.  Colored with Copics, layered on Basic Grey with foam tape and then embellished with Kandi, ribbon and the sentiment on the pennant. I debated distressing the edges but decided to "frame" the clown with hand drawn lines done with a Micron .01 black pen. I think that looks good with this image.

This card should be eligible for the following:
CHALLENGES:

Unique Crafters' Challenge - Anything Goes
A Day for Daisies #44 - Pinwheel Photo Inspiration
Catch the Bug - Color Challenge
Robyn's Fetish #109 - Birthday Card with the sentiment on the front - WON TOP THREE!

Be Afraid... Be Very Afraid...

I wanted to combine two challenges today... to use a color challenge of shades of pinks and a baby blue with a "male birthday card".  Now THAT is a challenge!  I started with inspiration from the Penny Black "PB & J" video that Jill did using torn Post It notes and sponging on Distress Inks.  Once that was dry, I stamped the image "Nautica" on top.  The sentiment is a stamp by Rubberstamp Ave. that I had to have... that phrase is one that sailing buddies of ours use when ever the wind cranks up to a level that has us really heeling (tipping on our side to the lay person)!  It is said with a big grin and with pure enjoyment of the good racing conditions. But I digress...
I stitched the edges of the sentiment panel to mimic the PB image, sponged the edges with "Pumice Stone" to distress and added the "Kandi" as embellishment.

This card should be eligible for the following
CHALLENGES:
Simon Says - Male Challenge
A Day For Daisies #44 - Pinwheel Photo Inspiration ERROR - needs to be an image from ADFD - sorry!

PAPER:  All CS is from my endless stash.
EMBELLISHMENTS: Three "Kandi" buttons used
INKS: Distress Inks: Victorian Velvet, Spun Sugar, Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick & Pumice Stone were used to create the background; the focal image and sentiment were stamped with black Versafine.

Male card...

Working directly on Craft paper for this image was actually something new for me.  I've used it for a base card or for layering, but never to stamp directly on it and color.  Hmmm... need more practice getting the image to pop out of the brown background!  Maybe with a white shadow surrounding the image?  But then the bottom line is that most of the males in my life will never notice anyway.
Clean and simple - framed image and sentiment, a torn background DP and a piece of twine.  Ta-dah! Done!

Strawberry Patch...

Congratulations on your garden!
This is a really easy version of a circle card - with just a brad to keep the circles together.  I used a Sissix to die-cut the circles and felt a swivel opening would be fun.  Additional flowers were added for the background along with distressed edges.
Card swings open pivoting on the brad.

Blue Butterfly...

I scanned this a little crooked I'm afraid... and then sent it off to a friend so now I can't re-do.  Sorry!
However - I do like how this mag butterfly turned out!  Stamped and colored with Copics, cut out and sculpted (dry embossed from the back) and then mounted on foam tape really makes for a simple and comparatively fast card.  All the paper used is scrap/recycled, the pearls are from my endless stash and I drew on the dashed line of the flight path.

I did paint the antennas with clear nail polish to stiffen them a bit for protection.  Other details are always listed below:

Butterfly Kisses...

This card is actually oval shaped - though this scan doesn't differentiate the card from the background well. The frame is one by Whipper Snapper Designs that I stamped with Distress Ink on DP (very pale lavender horizontal stripes) glued to the front of A2 CS.  Because the frame was stamped over the edge of the fold on the left side, I then was able to cut around the  rest of the frame and maintain a normal opening card.  The image is a Sassy Cheryl digi colored with Copics, cut out, sculpted and mounted on foam tape.  One butterfly is stamped directly on the background, the other two stamped on scrap paper, cut out and mounted 3-D.  The banner sentiment is secured with a brad.

This card should be eligible for the following
CHALLENGES:
Clear It Out Challenge - ConBRADulations  - stash item brads

Congratulations...

Hmmmmm... one of the problems of this technique (sculpting parts of the image to be 3-D) is that when you try to scan or photograph, SOME-thing is always out of focus.  The close up allows you to see her body a little better, but trust me, the original is not that fuzzy!
This Sassy Cheryl image is colored and then framed with Distress Ink and scrap purple paper then mounted on scrap DP.  Finally, button brads, a sentiment banner and a real button were added.

The color theme is blue and purple for a challenge  - and I used Copics.

Buttoned Down Mad Hatter...

It's a Mo Manning image and it lends itself to wild colors!  After coloring I made the faux frame by putting down Painter's Tape around the image and sponging in toward the center with Distress Inks.  I then used a ribbon punch down the left border and added coordinating ribbon and buttons from my stash.

Sweet Wishes...

For this card I pulled out my  Hero Arts "Newspaper Cupcake", a Sassy Cheryl girl and the sentiment.  The coloring was done with my favorite Copics and Distress Inks were used on the edges of the background and the pennant.  After cutting the images out, they were sculpted and mounted on foam tape over the K & Company  DP background.  The frosting was slit in a  half moon shape and the cherry was slid into the frosting.

Welcome Olivia...

There's a new baby in town!  I had to dig out my baby stamps - this one from PSX from a million years ago. It's still precious and still perfect for the occasion.  The colors I need are perfect for the Color Inspiration Challenge from Just Some Lines. Colored with Copics and Distress Ink used for the background, I mounted on DP and added three buttons from my stash.  Plain and Simple - easy peasy.

Adore you...

What a lovey image!  As you must know by now - Mo Manning is my favorite artist right now.  I keep finding digis that bring back such strong memories from my childhood.  I had a brother who had a blanket with a satin edge (oh, he is going to kill me!) - he would twist up the corner and stick it up his nose while he sucked his thumb.  Mom finally cut that blanket in quarters so she could keep 2 or three freshly washed while he carried around the fourth corner.  I don't remember that he even noticed the sudden reduction in size.
I printed out 2 copies of this digi - one for the base and one to color.  The top image was colored with Copics - I used the Blender pen to dab on the sweater to create texture.
I fancy cut the image and here is a new trick I tried - instead of cutting the image into pieces to layer, I only cut slits in two places.  I cut a slit between the head and the neck of the sweater up to the dog and the second between the shirt and the pants to the dog.  The image is sculpted from the back to round it and foam tape put in the center of each section I want raised.  When the image is attached to the base layer, I glue down the lower edge of the slit parts so the upper section remains raised above it.  Thus the boys ear and cheek are raised above the neck and the shirt is raised above his pant waist.
TIP:  The edges all around were carefully colored with the predominate color of each section (blue-green around the dog, brown around the pants edge, etc.) to make sure no white left from the cutting process shows.  Also, that same color is applied to the base image just around the edges so if you look at the card from the side you are not seeing any white - it all matches.  This really makes it look more professional and finished.
