Snail mail...

  • This image is a freebie from Bugaboo Stamps and seemed to be the perfect image to use for this card.  I recently received a set of Wobble springs that you won't be able to see here... it is an attachment with two adhesive patches with a spring in the middle.  When the card is pulled from the envelope the snail will wobble and shake  - and bring a giggle! The image was colored with Copics, mounted over Basic Grey DP, and three embellishments were added:
  • square black brads
  • a Studio 18  Rhinestone
  • "Icycle" Stickles for the snail slime
This card should be eligible for the following
CHALLENGES:
IMAGES:  The focal image is "Hat Snail" from Bugaboo Stamps; "Hello" is from Hero Arts: "Year Around Sentiments"
PAPER:  Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80# Cover Wt. used for the image; both papers are from Basic Grey: "Out of Print"; base CS is from Georgia Pacific.
EMBELLISHMENTS:  Studio 18  Rhinestone; Stickles "Icycle"; brads from my stash

WINNER! Baby doll...

This Mo Manning image has been colored with Copics in one of my favorite color combos in the RV color family for the  iCopic Weekly Challenge   I created the faux frame around her by masking the edges and sponging with Distress Inks.  The main image panel is then mounted on DP and fastened to the top fold of this Easel Card.  An explanation of the fold for this card and photos are found at the bottom of this post.

This card should be eligible for the following
CHALLENGES:
IMAGES:  The focal image is "To Grammy's" from Mo Manning
PAPER:  Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80# Cover Wt. used for the images; DP is from K & Company "Sweet Nectar"; base CS is Georgia Pacific.
EMBELLISHMENTS: Candi  was colored with Copics & ribbon is from my stash.
INKS: Distress Inks: "Bundled Sage" was used for creating the faux frame around the image. The focal image is a digi from Digital Pencil Too printed out on a Canon Pixma & colored with Copics:

Here are the steps for making this very easy Easel Card:

  1. Starting with an A2 card with the fold at the top.  Fold back the front of the card in approximately half to make the bottom edge meet the top fold as can be seen here.
  2. On my card I have attached DP panels to the front and inside of the card to match.  I also attached an all white panel hidden under the image panel that will be used for my personal message.
  3. The image panel is mounted on coordinating DP to provide a strong mat as it will only be attached to the top half of the card front.

4.  The sentiment was stamped and matted with the same DP used for the focal image and (this is the important step) was mounted with foam tape to the inside bottom so that it is raised and will hold the card open.  The image panel merely catches behind the sentiment panel and voila! - an Easel Card is made.

5.  Embellishments are added as amuses you!

If I have made anything unclear - don't hesitate to leave your question in the comment section and I will reply ASAP.

The April Fool...

Sassy Cheryl created this image called "The April Fool".  Two copies were colored with Copics, cut apart and layered with foam tape for dimension.  I then masked the edges of the image panel and sponged color  in toward the image to create a faux frame.  This panel was mounted on foam tape over the red and green panels, and the base card stock was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder before assembly.  The ribbon was added using a ribbon punch along the edge of the red CS and Mini Brads were colored with Copics, sealed with nail polish and then used as the bells on the ends of his cap.

Sharing Memories...

I originally bought this stamp because it reminds me of reading Winnie the Pooh to my brother when he was little.  To this day I still call him "Pooh".
This image from Penny Black was stamped four times, colored with Copics and then cut up in layers and each piece was sculpted from the back before layering.  It looks really flat here because the scanner does not pick up the depth...  the dimension can be seen better in the photo below.  Since the Penny Black Sat Challenge was "no patterned paper", I used a Tim Holtz Embossing Folder and imprinted the blue panel with clocks to further the theme of the passage of time.   I finally hand stitched that panel on to the base card. (That I regret... can you tell I don't sew?)
The close up below gives you a hint at the four layers of the image with her core body and the desk as #1, the book, the Teddy's body and her head as #2, their hats and her arm as the 3rd layer and finally the rose on her hat and the butterfly as the 4th.  Each layer is floated on foam tape to provide the dimension.

Watering Can Flowers...

Don't know where the image comes from, but it's fun to color with Copics for the iCopic Spring Colors Challenge. The image was punched with a scalloped circle and floated with foam tape on a 2nd punched circle then layered per the layout from a sketch by Dawny on Simon Says Stamp.  (See sketch at very end of post.)

Sail away...

This image is classic in my opinion.  Sailboat and Monochromatic or Neutral colors make it easy to use for men... brighten up the color scheme and you have a child's card.  I stamped the image on white CS, colored with Copics, cut out and mounted on brown CS.  A Score-It was used to put in the embossed lines framing the boat.  Stamp my sentiment and easy-peasy... Done!

Singing in the Rain...

It was a foggy evening, the moon was out , there was a light drizzle coming down and she splashed and danced in the puddles as her curly hair frizzed with the humidity.  Sounds like the first sentence to a mystery or vampire novel!
As always, I love Mo Manning's artwork and this one is certainly fun to use.  I colored the focal image with Copics, and then used Distress Inks on the edges of the panel.  I also stamped flowers by Prickly Pear directly on the panel and then on the blue paper scraps used in the background.  The blue ones were punched out by the Prickly Pear dies that match the stamps shape.  Three different sizes were put together with the yellow brad as a center.  The moon was punched out of yellow scraps and added - and, if you look closely, you can see the spots stamped on the blue background panel with VersaMark using a pencil eraser.  These were embossed with clear EP.

This card should be eligible for the following
DP2 Challenge #130:  "I see Spots with a Mo Image"
Basic Grey #66: "Spring Colors"

Sassy Cheryl's digi "Ladybug Lady" inspired this spotty card.  Colored with Copics, the focal image was layered on Paper Studio Designer Paper.

Potted Tulip...

I am CASEing a card shape my Cousin sent me for this one.   The pot and flower are pencil drawn on Neenah and then glued to a second panel for additional support - then cut out.  The design is colored with Copics and  I changed up the design on the shape by adding the script, ladybug and checked border.  The ladybug is stamped on a scrap, cut out, colored, sculpted and mounted 3-D on the flower with foam tape.

This Penny Black image is an older one that I pulled out  to use.  It was colored with Copic-Greens, mounted on a Basic Grey DP and on a base CS embossed with a brick wall.  (Can't see that well at all in these pics!)  The layout is from a sketch by Helen on the Penny Black site.

Yea George!

This card was done by the husband of a friend - I am so impressed with George's card!   He used a Cuttlebug, Nestabilities, a Cricut, stamped, colored and even put in a transparent window over his artwork.  What a beautiful, manly card!
Good going George!!  Keep making cards!

Little Baby Yumiko...

For this card I have taken inspiration from Alina, whose wonderful compositions can be seen on her blog - Made by Alina.  I hope you will check out her artwork... gorgeous & rich in my opinion!
I think I will play with this concept for awhile - I have soooo much paper, I could layer till the cows come home.
The focal digi is a Mo Manning - I love her hair!  After coloring with Copics I lost some of the definition, so I took a .01 Micron and flicked in a few wild hairs!  Once I had punched her out with my scalloped punch I lost the hummingbird off the bottom left edge - so I cut him out, sculpted from the back and mounted him with a glue dot.  He's hard to pick out on this image - but you can see  in the close-up below.  The edge of the scallops are colored with Copics and sponged with "Wild Honey" Distress Ink.

Pastel Bouquet...

This Sassy Cheryl image lends itself beautifully to a pastel birthday card.  I colored it with Copics and then the corner of the focal image panel was punched.  I mimicked that on the blue layer and base CS with a !/2" corner rounder.  Front of the base CS was run thru a Cuttlebug with an embossing folder and finished with a pastel zig-zag ribbon.

This card should be eligible for the following

Sing-a-long...

For this card I chose three stamps at random for the Penny Black challenge "Sing-a-long" theme.  By chance, all three were Penny Black - so, I guess I met their  criteria without even trying!
The "Music Pattern" was stamped with Distress Inks for the background, and the sentiment, "Happy-happy", is mounted on red CS.  Finally the focal image, "Your Birthday" hedgehog has been colored with Copics, fancy cut, sculpted from the back and then mounted on foam tape to maintain the round and elevated dimension.  Red twine and the large red single note were added to embellish and balance elements on the page.

This card should be eligible for the following

Easter Pretties...

The "EASTER" image, from Outline Stamps, was colored with Copics and gold foil was added with my favorite tool - the Calligraphy Fine Liner Pen from ArtQuest.  This pen applies the Duo Glue that, once dry, allows me to apply the gold foil as seen in the close up below.
I pierced the image panel (boy, do I need practice with that technique!), layered the image on red CS and then on striped DP from Basic Grey.  A shiny gold ribbon was added as a finishing touch.

This card should be eligible for the following

To Grammy's... MADE TOP THREE!

My Granny used to call this putting on my "Sunday go to meetin' clothes."  I'm using Mo Manning's "To Grammy's" digi image here - colored with Copics, mounted on 2 layers of  K & Company DP.  A ribbon and Candi added to embellish.  My inspiration was a photo of a Wedding Bouquet offered in the Digital Pencil 2 Blog.

Bunny's Bag...

This image is a Sassy Cheryl digi that is fast and easy to color & a nice break from the little kids I have been coloring.  The extra energy went into decorating the eggs with gold foil.  I used Versamark with an assortment of eggs to watermark the background & the three multi-colored Candis that, to me, mimic Easter eggs

The close up shows the watermark background.
