You stole my heart...

For the Grandsons' Valentines - I did a quick and easy version... a Mo Manning image that only required Copic coloring for the skin and the heart.  A Crop-a-Dile Corner Chomper gave me the 1/2 inch corners for the focal panel and the mat.  Done and done!  The computer generated sentiment was cut down, matted on black and adhered even with the left margin.  A grosgrain black ribbon is the only embellishment... CAS and fast for the boys.

One in a Chameleon...

This image was a freebie called 'One in a Chameleon' by Lawn Fawn that came with my mail order.  I felt the sentiment that came with it is perfect for my Grand-daughter's Valentine.  My 14 y.o. neighbor, Gena, made the great background after a lesson on using a straw to blow alcohol inks on glossy paper.   The background became the inspiration for the card.  It reminded me of a beam of sunlight peeking thru the clouds - perfect for a Chameleon warming itself on a stump. The little stamp set has only the one limb on which he is standing - I drew the rest of the tree stump attached to it.  The Copic colors for my lizard were matched to the background, it was fussy cut and glued down so he was in the full sun.  The panel adheres to the white card base which had been embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.  The diagonal lines mimic the sunbeam lines in the sky.  A tiny 'diamond' was centered in his eye.

The sentiment was mounted on 

a slender strip of the background 

cut off the front panel.

Non-traditional Valentine colors...

I like to see this image as a Hawk and a Snowy Owl... thus the coloring choices.  Coloring with Copics, I added mountains and craters using a blender pen and a darker YR on the moon.  A blue transparent ribbon was added over the vertical strip of DP and then I sewed it on with brown waxed linen from my bookbinding supplies.  The image and all the papers were rescued from the pile on my desk... you know "the one where things are shoved to the back to make room for each new project for months till it is way too cumbersome to deal with and must be dealt with" pile.  Long story shorter - I have no source for either.
