Spring is Here!

I have not done a shaker card for ages!  I have to tell you... it was PAINful trying to match up the stamped version on the background with the hole cut in the foreground!  I wanted the lines behind my bunny - not over the top [as in stamped on the acetate]!  Phew - it will be another long time before I do another one!

This is my DT card for Aud Sentiments' "Easter or Spring Sentiment" Challenge.  I have a secret to share... it is really slow right now on this challenge - here is the perfect opportunity to have better odds to win an incredible prize from Great Impressions!  Their store [check it out!], has Rubber stamps [I am RubberMAD after all!] and the prize they are offering is FIVE stamps from their store!  You can enter up to five times and you have till Tuesday, 2/24 to get your projects in! The team has provided some fun ideas HERE and you will find the rest of the factoids there about the challenge - most important is... big hint: DON'T FORGET THE SENTIMENT!

The snow globe is a 1995 rubber stamp from Raindrops on Roses  [all three of the stamps are red rubber - sometimes I just have an uncontrollable urge to get back to my roots!] and the bunny is from Delafield Stamp Co... also older than the hills.  The sentiment is from ?? - I gotta check on that.  I made the embossed lines on the darker teal CS with a Scor-It & the big ole beautiful satin double bow was made on a Proctor Bow Maker.  The little plastic Easter egg confetti was added before sealing up the globe. The inside was made from CS left from the front and two pieces of leftover ribbon.

This card should be eligible for the following

Color Bingo

"Little Clown Colorin'' provided by Alicia Bel

613 Ave C's Sunday Challenge is "Color Bingo" using this Bingo card:

This is my DT project using the top horizontal line - pale blue, yellow and green.  The team has some wonderful takes on the theme... you can see them and get the details of the challenge here.

If you like this image, you can find it at Alicia Bel
TECHNIQUE
  • The base card is 5.5 x 6.25"
  • The Green mat was partially embossed with the "Large Dots" folder from Tim Holtz.  The third layer is Designer Paper from Paper House, the "Artist Paper Mix" collection.
  • All the layers' edges were inked with  ''Antique Linen'' Distress Ink and distressed with a sharp tool. Faux stitching was added with a Micron 05 Brown ink pen to the last layer.
  • For the focal image, I used Paper Tole Technique to 3D his body: Printed 3 copies, colored them with Copics, fussy cut and 'paper sculpted' the image. The five total layers are either glued or elevated [or both] with foam tape to achieve dimension.
  • The inside uses left over scraps from the front.  The sentiment is by
Penny Black & is stamped with my very old, faithful Versafine ink pad.
  • Sentiment on the front is computer generated.  The sentiment and the mat were punched with Marvy Uchida punches, edges inked with the same distress Ink from above, and "Buttercup" Liquid Pearls was applied all around the edge.
  • Ribbon is from stash and the double bow was tied with a Proctor Bow Maker and the ticket ephemera is also from stash.
This card should be eligible for the following

Voodoo Bunny Valentine...

"Bugzz - Voodoo Bunny" provided by Lacy Sunshine Stamps

Love her!  Love the 'just a little odd' images that I find... matches my personality. And here I have a Valentine for a "don't give me a girly card" phobic man!

Aud Sentiments latest challenge is for a "Valentine or Love Sentiment"... this is my take on the theme.  You have till Feb 10 to get up to 5 entries into the mix for a great prize of 3 images of your choice from Lacy Sunshine.  The DT has some fabulous creations - do go check them out!

TECHNIQUE
[Note: specific information on supplies and sources will be found below under “Supplies”.]

  • The 'mat' just beneath the focal image is DP wrapped around one of those thousands of "credit cards" you get in the mail labeled "your name here" - they are made of plastic or sometimes chip board.  I am obsessed - I save them for the day I figure out what to use them for. Finally!  The day came!  One down and 987 to go.  I kid.  Kinda. Top Tip: I do use the plastic ones for spreading glue or stencil paste.
  • For the focal image I used Paper Tole Technique to 3D her head. Printed 3 copies, colored them with Copics, fussy cut and 'paper sculpted' the image. The layers are either glued or elevated with foam tape to achieve dimension.
  • The base panel was cut down to allow her legs and the part of the bunny to be cut free from the background so I could 'sit' her on the mat.
  • The sentiment was printed out and then punched with the oval - & slipped under the focal panel.
  • Candi was colored with Copics and put on three corners in the Ticket Stub punched shapes.
  • Five 1/8th inch holes were punched  along the bottom left and twine sewn thru and finished with a bow.
  • Inside uses left over DP from the front.
